How is it that the Celtics medical staff allowed IT to continue to play on an injured hip knowing that he could re-injure it and make it worse?

I don't know if you can blame the medical staff, if the player is sending mixed signals as to how he feels, its his body.

Though it is interesting that the C's replaced most of their medical staff just recently.

I just can't help thinking that this entire situation had something to do with IT hiding his hip injury, and postponing surgery until after him signing that blasted contract he wants.

I think IT was not wanting to loose his Brinks Truck ....might have been slightly exaggerated his situation ......and the Docs may have felt a bit sorry and gave him TOO much hopeful leadway .

The result is media , Cavs fans .....Celtics fans under the impression he is gonna be good as new .....and ready to be the old IT .

lots and lots of denial.

Danny is hard to fool.....Im sure he had his own private talks with docs .....and he did not want nothing but the cold hard facts.

I am not sure there is any part of your question that is based on actually known facts.  The femoral acetabular impingement or FAI injury is chronic.  It is something that he has had all his life and did not get worse by playing more.

The FAI and the rigors of an NBA season led to what was first thought to be Labral inflammation but is not being rumored to be a tear.  This is not all that serious of an injury, at least based on what I have read on some medical websites.  It may have been made worse by continuing to play but this is still not all that serious.

No information that has been reported has actually stated what the problem is that has led the Cavs to believe IT won't be able to play.  Is it the FAI or the Labrum.  There is a huge difference between the two.  One is career threatening, the other is arthroscopic surgery in the worst case.

Until it is reported exactly what is going on, there is nothing other than speculation that would allow the conclusion that "continuing to let IT play made the injury worse".

The injury got worse to the point where IT could not play.
