The OP is speculating but his speculation makes sense.

The Celtics certainly have a line of communication open with Hayward. If they'd suspected he wanted to play with George next year, then George would be a Celtic. It's that simple.

George plus Hayward would have been an impressive collection of talent, but it would essentially have necessitated George starting at the 4, something he's professed to being lukewarm about in the past.

I don't think Hayward is coming unless team upgrades at PF.

I am telling you Hayward ends up in Miami. That snake Riley is going to screw Boston again

If the Celtics don't land Hayward, this offseason was a complete and utter failure.

No Hayward, no George, no Griffin, no Fultz.

Oh what could have been.

I think "complete and utter failure" is a bit strong.  If they don't get Hayward, the success/failure of the offseason will come with analysis of the comparative play of Fultz/Tatum, and the location of that Lakers pick.

It would hurt. I think many are tired of Boston kicking it down the can always pointing to next year  when in reality nothing happens the next year

This is obviously not the case and if it were, I'm not sure I'd want Haywars nearly as much anymore.

I expect that Hayward would like to join the best team possible.

If he knows George is gone anyway what's the point? The team has a 3% chance tops of beating the Golden State Warriors and then George is gone so rather just develop chemistry with the guys that will be there.

3% tops? So under no circumstances would you up that to 4%?

Okay 4% tops if Curry and Durant go down.

The #1 thing I believe Hayward is concerned about is not being as involved with the team as he currently is with Utah.

He's very unselfish, but he wants the flow of the offense to run around him. So naturally he must have concerns about Isaiah Thomas and if we had Paul George to then he truly could be a third banana which he probably does not want to do, think about it it's definitely on his mind.

I expect Hayward's family to have a huge impact on where he goes...

yeah and word is his wife loves miami and the beach there. strap in it will be a wild ride if you are fighting south beach fun in the sun with boston harbor and freezing snow. just saying.
