Ainge knows the Lakers aren't trying to win. They won't be as bad as the Nets but the Lakers want to be bad to continue to get better picks...but the Celtics have their pick next year. That can't be pleasing to PG13. haha

Fultz plays no defense and Ainge and Stevens knew it.

When Ainge didn't take any players back, it tells you that the pick is being dealt. All of this is to clear cap room to get 2 players.

For all these people who are in love with Fultz, be honest did you see him play much this season? I think a lot of this is because he was the consensus #1 but was he really? I saw Tatum and Jackson and thought they were better. There's no really big difference in 1-4 in this draft.

Fultz is more likely to be a superstar, but it sucks more that we traded him within the division. Philly is celebrating right now. AD would make this all better, PG/Butler will not.

I admit I have only watched youtube clips of Fultz, and didn't fall in love...only went on the consensus #1 opinion.  If his workouts were disappointing to Ainge in terms of defense, I will trust Danny.  He was there, and none of us were.

...if there is another deal we have to get George now because if the Lakers get him, say goodbye to that lottery pick.
Lakers do not have the assets to acquire PG now so I'm not worried about the Lakers 2018 pick dropping out of the lottery.

So Ainge's "plan" is to field an entire team of small forwards? Paul George - even in the unlikely event he stays more than one year - isn't getting us past CLE, and if Lebron bolts for LA next year, we aren't getting past GSW with this roster. Laughable to think this will work.

Yes, that seems to be the plan.

A score first PG, who excels in the PnR coupled with a stretch 5 who is the best passing big man in the game, along with 3 rangy, versatile wings.  That's pretty much the ideal roster composition in today's NBA.

A true 5-out offense.
So when CLE absolutely batters us again on the boards next year at least we'll be slightly more competitive and only lose in 6 games.

Progress.
Cleveland's defensive rebound % against the C's was 76%, the Celtics 75.9%.  Cleveland's offensive rebound % was 24.1%, the Celtics 24%.  Rebounding was not the problem, the Celtics were out rebounded by an average of 5 rebounds per game because Cleveland shot much better and therefor there were fewer rebounds to be had for the Celtics on the defensive end plain and simple.  The solution to beating them is to shoot and defend better, to do so the C's without a doubt need bigger, longer, faster, and more highly skilled wings.  Having said wings will also improve the rebounding naturally.

I don't want a blockbuster deal. I want Fultz. No matter what we do, we aren't beating the Warriors.

Awesome, we'll be the Clippers East.  ::)
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Spot on. Moving to the 3rd pick seems to suggest that he already knows.

The one thing that throws a fly in the ointment is would you want the one or three if you were receiving this trade?    I would want to one because it means you get whomever you want.  Big difference between one and three in terms of value.

I think he dealt it because of the smaller cap hold and we can sign a guy now for the max assuming we renounce a few guys.

We are not beating GS with Fultz either, who are you kidding.  In fact, Fultz did not beat many people in college.

I have said all along after this leaked that he makes the push for AD now.

Rationale:  NO is going nowhere in the Western Conference and just traded their only other young core asset for Boogie.  He is locked in for 4 more years (up to 28 years old) but he will not resign with NO for the next deal.

If you are NO, you keep him and that weird team you have and try to make noise, sell some tickets, make the playoffs, but ultimately fail to do anything.  Or, you ask Boston for every 1st round draft pick they have from now until 2020.

That's why I wrote ''no matter what we do'', Einstein. The way I see it, best thing we can do is be patient and build through the draft.

I wish you were right but it really makes no sense to me. Why would they trade a top 5 player they have at age 24 who is locked up for good money until he is 28? From what I have seen he loves playing there. There has NEVER been a link that he would prefer to play elsewhere, especially in Boston. You say he won't re-sign there? Based on what? It makes zero sense and would be fan base suicide. They bring in a very talented but head case in Cousins and trade away the beloved savior. You are saying that New Orleans wants to play the "extreme" long game.

There is going to be no Davis .....for another 2-3 years ...no way anybody in there right mind lets him go......till HE demands a trade or says he is leaving ......Hayward , IT , Horford type win now age are not waiting for that deal to come down the pike .  Or a maybe Davis is comming ....please be patient and wait .   They are not going to do that.

Fireworks will be some combo of Hayward , George or Bulter, Griffin , ect  ,  or maybe just ONE of those guys .

Danny has HAS to be in the win now mode 1-3 years for these age guys in their prime to come on board .    He can't wait for Fultz to grow into Wall or Hardin.....maybe though .....Davis see s.  all these good players on the Celtics in 2 years and wants to join in ...like Durrant did GS. .....thats about as good as I can imagine right now happening concerning Davis.

Star players ar n't going to,join a club to win 5 years down the road .

A team from this group could win the east .....especially if Lebron goes West .

I still Doubt the Celtics can beat Durrant , Lebron , Cp3 , Teams of the West .

Again .....I presume its part of getting FA s ....star caliber .....promise to win in 4 year window .....means using assets and not taking high draft picks to keep and develop .

I hope you're right because right now this looks REALLY bad. Danny got smoked on this deal, if the roles were reversed Philly would tell us to pound sand!

Also if we are getting to make a trade for a player and still have room for a free agent some of our players have to go.

If the Celtics were willing to move Horford there would likely be a bunch of blockbuster type trades available, especially in multi team trades.  In many scenarios the C's could take back a lot less salary and much more easily create max cap space.  Cleveland is surely going to want to change things up (Love? Irving?).  New York (Porzingis? Melo?).  Clippers (Jordan? Paul? Griffin?) maybe Paul and or Griffin would opt in or sign and trade under the right circumstances??  Chicago (Butler).  Indiana (George).  Without moving Horford blockbuster trades are unlikely as he is the only available large salary.

Ainge did this trade so he could have picks -# 1&2 in 2018 draft. And then trade them.
