I could live with the trade if there was no protection. But there is, so I am not happy. I will trade with the Lakers before I trade with Philly. There is no reason to help a division rival.

How do you not see the protection helps the Celtics outside the Lakers getting extremely lucky and landing the #1 ... Celtics keep anything from 2-5 ... they dont want 6 or lower... and Sac is a total crap shoot that will be bottom 3 for next three years ...
exactly. It certifies that we will get elite prospect. We don't want to add middle of the barrel crud

You can ask for the protection and still be able to land the Lakers pick even at #1.

We have all the leverage. Sixers are the ones calling for the #1, not us. Have the protection, but we should have still be able to get that pick if it's the top. Protecting it 2-5 is just caving in.

On the oft chance that indeed the Lakers get lucky, the Sixers will have Fultz/Simmons/Embiid and one of those 4 names being mentioned in the 2018 class.
