Danny: Cavs are still the team to beat

Looks like CB is not the only one who noticed that the team is coasting throughout the season. He's right though. If they don't give their 100% effort, they won't get past the first round, let alone challenge the Cavs.

“The Cavaliers have the most talent; everybody knows that,” Ainge said. “Some people think that’s conceding by me saying that. But that’s not the case. If I go out and play golf with Phil Mickelson, I think I have a chance to beat him even though I know I probably won’t.”

I think he means that the team should try, even if the odds are not favoring them.

I think the point is, if the C's don't play their asses off, they'll lose.  Against anybody.

That's not a controversial position for Danny to hold.

I respect Danny's candor.  He's right.  We are better than Chicago but the difference is not as much as the casual observer would think.  I am sure that Wade, Butler, and Rondo are looking at this as a series they can steal.  The Celtics haven't won anything yet and they better bring that attitude to the series.

But the Ainge-Nicholson being like Celtics-Cavs comparison is a bit of a stretch.  He is correct with the general point he is trying to make but I hope the Cavs aren't as much better than the Celtics as Phil is better golfer than Danny.

For those of us who can look past our bias' this very clear.

One thing I really like about Danny is his ability to be objective and remove feelings from the equation.

He knows the difference between a true contender and a pretender (regular season perfomer).

I love how objective Danny is. That's a major reason I think the man can bring us another banner some time soon. There's no emotional attachment for him to sway his thinking

Cavs have the strongest talent in the conference, and currently the defending Eastern Conference Champions. So I agree, they are the team to beat.
