Seems like a Syracuse trustee wanted everyone to know that Fab Melo was a flawed human being and shes sorry-not-sorry if you find that distasteful.

This is just too sad, too sad for words. Our thoughts are with his family.

Fab was obviously a sweet kid. He had a good face. He was, all in all, probably too easy-going for the rough-and-tumble life in the NBA and all that it entails.

Far too often, he was the far-too-facile butt of lame jokes and an uncomfortable symbol of Danny's supposedly poor drafting skills. I always thought, and still firmly believe, that Doc never gave him a fair chance, much like E' Twaun Moore, due in large part to his somewhat lazy habit of suffering young players with near-cosmic reluctance.

Was he as bad as everybody said? There was no real way of knowing when he was here and now we'll never know.

Hopefully Fab is in a much better place now. May he rest in peace.

agreed. i also can see the point of not wanted to other SU alumni tainted or diminished. but the timing was not appropriate.

however, it does raise the ever present question of how do we discuss less-than-saintly dead people? death is not an exclusion club that automatically confers upon its members the status of being noteworthy or superior human beings. it confers no honor not achieved in life.

but again, a discussion that needs to be distanced from an actual death itself.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
I watched him get 15 blocks against the Erie Bayhawks in the D-league. One of the most impressive things I've seen in sports.

RIP buddy.
I will remember him this way too. I was so hopeful Danny had hit a gem after seeing theses highlights. RIP FAB

Honestly, that situation says a lot more about Syracuse than it does Fab. He was just following his dream.

They were exploiting him to line their pockets.

Jesus, rest in peace to Fab Melo. Guy wasn't the greatest ball player but I'll still remember him as a Celtic.
