Boston is on the cusp of large market.

Wrong

It's top ten and 8th

DMAs aren't really the correct way to look at it, however.  I mean, they're not useless, but is Maine part of the Celtics market?  Rhode Island? They're outside of the DMA, but as Celtics games aren't over the air, what primarily matters is how large CSN New England's footprint is, as opposed to what DMA they're in.  Adding the Providence-New Bedford DMA to Boston's DMA bumps them into 4th, ahead of Philly for instance.  Of course, perhaps the Sixers are on in Harrisburg or Wilmington, Delaware.

Also, here's the most updated list of DMAs

The city of Boston doesn't have the population or glamour of New York, L.A., or Chicago, but it's a sports-crazy city with a ton of success across all four major sports, so in that respect I consider it a big-market city.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

Still Top Ten!

Again, DMAs don't tell the entire story.

And the Celtics are 11th of 30 teams in market size even by that crude measure.
