the problem in knick land isn't just the fact that it's the knicks ... it's also the front office... it's also they have no one but melo. BUT CARMELLO IS ALSO AS MUCH OF THE PROBLEM AS ANYTHING.

i seriously question a guy who leaves a team with Billups and camby on it to go to NY and play with no one, with the likelihood that will never change.

I don't want this guy tainting this organization with his mediocrity.

I admit a lot of my hatred for this guy doesn't really have anything to do with him personally, it's more to do with the people that have built him up. because if these same people took time to notice there was a guy in Boston that was on another level but rarely ever got talked about but he did a whole lot more with less. Paul Pierce.

Pierce brought players like Jiri welsch and Raef Lefrentz to the playoffs in a weak eastern conference. Carmello's knicks are out of playoff contention by Dec. in a weak eastern conference. that's all you need to know.

I'm one of those guys that would like Melo if the price were good/cheap.

But Smith is FOS and always has been.
Just not a reliable insider IMO.

Would Crowder, contract filler, and a non Brooklyn pick be too much?

It would be too much for me. Crowder's deal is just too cheap and at this stage I'd want him with Melo so they could switch the 3/4.
I think if any established vets go out in a Melo trade it's firstly Amir + Zeller or Amir +Bradley if we decide we ultimately can't re-sign AB with cap space when the time comes- especially with Smart's defensive impact and skill set.
However it would be pretty sweet to see the rest of the season with a lineup of:

IT
AB
Crowder
Melo
Horford

Bradley will get some $20 million+ offers and one could argue that AB is more valuable than Carmelo right now so giving him up is an overpayment too, even if he is expiring after next season.

I'd say Danny is waiting patiently at the deadline to offer:
Amir
Zeller
Clippers pick 2019
Boston pick 2018

Yeah, I like trading AB too. I just don't think you can trust his health enough to pay him market value. And if you want to beat Lebron, you better have Crowder,  Melo, Jaylen,  and Marcus to throw at him.

Amir
Zeller
Bradley

For

Melo
O'Quinn

Maybe Danny can pull off a Rozier and future picks for Noel too.

IT
Jaylen
Crowder
JJ
Hortford

Marcus
Gerald
Melo
KO
Noel

I think that team, if healthy,  takes Cleveland to game 7.
