Why are so many of these trade threads in the main section if there is another one titled, "Transaction Ideas and Rumors?"

And Carmelo Anthony is worthy of discussion? Can we at least speculate on players that aren't overpaid, overrated and who could fill an actual need, say like Larry Sanders?

Melo has negative value for the Cs.

We would trade future flexibility + small assets for a chance (IT IS NOT ANYWAY SURE) of improving this year. We are not beating Cleveland, GS or San Antonio because of Mello. We would still be largely underdogs against them

Man, with that trade kicker you almost necessarily kill your big bench depth to get him. I don't think that proposed trade works with his trade kicker.

EDIT: Just looked it up, and I think for just Melo you'd have to send out $23,554,600 in salary.

So a trade of Amir, Zeller, Rozier, Young, and something like the Memphis pick and the Clippers pick would work at $23,731,640, but your trade of Amir, Olynyk, Rozier, and Jonas falls short at a bit over $22M.

I'd still definitely do Amir, Zeller, Rozier, Young, the Memphis pick, and the Clippers pick for him, though.

In my view, their depth sucks. They lost it when they let Turner and Sullinger go. Zeller and AJ are just salary fodder at this point. KO won't be re-signed if they actually sign somebody good.

The team isn't the same when one of their starters gets hurt. A sign of weak backups. All healthy, they're good. But with one or two starters down, they're .500 or less. Danny's depth went out with Turner and Sullinger.

As for the picks, Danny has way too many of them. The only ones worth keeping are those Nets picks. the rest are trade fodder.

I wouldn't take him for free.  The actual cost of Carmelo is completely closing the door to any free agent signings.

Much less give up four rotation players.

Besides which he turns 33 this season, and doesn't fit in Boston (ball stopper, minus defender).

In any case, ESPN is reporting:

"Sources told ESPN that the Boston Celtics let the Knicks know they have no interest in Anthony."

I would do the trade because IT needs help and Melo can wake up and get 25. We have enough defense, we need scoring. Sign Sanders for rebounding and then do a small deal at the deadline.

It's time to unload some dead weight...Amir, Olynk, Rozier, Mickey, Young all need to go. I like Jerebko because he plays hard and doesn't need the ball.

Our defense has been horrendous.  It's our offense that's been winning us games
I'm bitter.

Are there any teams that ARE the same when missing a starter? The only teams that are the same with a starter out are teams with really bad starters (since their bench players are just as good).  I'm not saying that this year's team is deep, but the standard you seem to be comparing to (no dropoff when missing a starter) is just unreasonable
