Marcus is undervalued.  He is super patient as a pg and shifty getting to the basket.  He also plays well within a system where there is very little wasted motion. He's also big and physical and a great leader patting guys on the back getting them involved.  I can't find the san antonio footage anywhere but Rozier is super quick.

If anything Ainge values his players about right.  It's not easy to find players that play team basketball like guys like Smart and AB do as well as others.  We drafted these guys because we liked them. At least I did.

Woj is just starting to wonder if ainge overvalues his players when that's not it at all.  It's always been this way where the celtics do their homework and draft players they like and are willing to develop and fit into what we are trying to do in the larger scheme of things, so obviously they are going to value them more than other teams.

This is what separates the celtics from a lot of teams.  These guys aren't just chips waiting to be traded.

This is something I've always understood.  Reading the internet over the years and seeing reactions, not many fans do to  be quite honest.

Better than being a team that doesn't value their players and end up losing their stars to teams like us.

There has always been a sense of trust within the celtics organization that not many teams have.

I like what Smart has shown as a point guard this year but I think part of Smart's value is his versatility. He can play the 1-3 and at times against certain players the 4.

That's part of that trust though. Smart is willing to do those things.  Not many players are. He'll take a back seat.  We are able to get players on bargain deals and all of that because we get players that are willing to work regardless and trust the organization that they will be taken care of.

His passing and his patience impressed me. That means he is calm and collected.

The problem is he just is not efficient and has some lapses in his offensive skills.

But hispoint guard skills have been pretty good. It sucks that they don't have a better scoring option.

A pass first, only shoot as a last resort type PG wouldn't be that bad.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I hope we can start Smart and bring IT off the bench tonight.

Think that would be the best of both worlds.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

If Rondo had been willing to play defense and play in the flow of the offense, Ainge would have probably never traded him, no matter how poor his shooting was.

Only problem I have is when the playmaking would have to come from someone other than Smart. Defenders are already disregarding him at the perimeter. Which will be a problem when he gives the ball to Horford in the post, etc.
