the management has so much more info, stats and a vision of where it wants to go and what type of team he wants to build
IF ONLY obscures reality
and that is we have a defensive identity a team first, hard work identity
danny ainge from the choice of brad stevens ,to acquiring players through trade and drafting has turned boston around and still has nets picks
we acquired the 2nd best free agent,we developed an all star  and best defensive guard
if only he did that ,if only we had drafted this one or that one
the tyranny of if only leads to paralysis and, doubt and robs the present of success

But roooollllllllliiiieeeeee, if only we tanked mercilessly for the better part of the past 4 years we could still be winless right now!

TP roll for basically summing up my thoughts on how well this rebuild has gone. Of course the grass is always greener, danny cant hit on every choice he makes.

Tanking can breed a culture of losing on a team, which is bad.

Exactly. Red Auerbach would roll over in his grave.

Reality is boring.  IF ONLY makes for lively discussions of the past, present and future, highlights regrets from the past and hopes for the future.  IF ONLY Perkins hadn't been hurt, we would have been 2010 Champs.  IF ONLY Bias hadn't died...  What hopes would Kings fans have if not for IF ONLY?

The reality is that our current team is not a championship contender.  IF ONLY Ainge could acquire the right star we could be a contender.

This has to be the most important current post on the whole blog. Knee-jerk analysis by random fans makes all of us look bad.

I read this forum for years before joining in. I remember Celtics4ever as the first to see Olynyk and Sullinger would be a dead end. He was correct.

Before others start freaking out, they might want to wait a game or two before going hysterical. While our roster is stacked, no team can survive an epidemic of injuries.

That was a gritty game against the Cavs. It was like the playoff games in year two Brad Stevens. Or last year against Atlanta.

Of course we probably won't win it all this year, but we might. Of all the teams other than GS and Cleveland, we are one of the only potential thorns in anticipated celebrations. We could be Dallas when they beat Miami because the Heat felt they were entitled and could simply show up.

Olynyk, Horford and Crowder will be back soon. Unless the bad luck persists, we will eventually be at full strength and then have a better picture of the floor and ceiling for Boston Celtics 2016-17.

I agree with Rollie. While discussing what ifs and only ifs, we are missing out on real life and how our favorite team is truly developing.
