If drafted by the C's, he's definitely going to have to earn his stripes. But, his offensive gifts are undeniable and I think off that alone he might get more playing time  than Jaylen did last year. He's much more polished offensively and if he's on that second unit with Smart, I think it could be a huge boost for that 2nd unit that struggled a lot last year as they never really replaced Turner's offense off the bench.
Yeah agreed, so a question I've been meaning to pose is, is Fultz better than Brown?  I think the answer is yes (even at different positions), but more specifically is the question of whether Brown is truly a building block for the future core?  Personally, I need to see his sophomore year to answer that.
Even with his rawness and inconsistencies, he still gave us a lot of quality minutes. His athleticism is off the charts. If he puts in the work to become fundamentally sound, I think he absolutely can be part of our future core.

people keep talking about his elite athleticism, but I don't see it in game film, and he didn't work out at the combine.  can someone point me to his work out numbers that would indicate this elite athleticism?

Pay close attention to what he does.  Fantastic body control on drives, good lateral movement on defense, never seems to tire.

True.  His body control and coordination is awesome.  He seems pretty average in terms of speed, quickness, and jumping ability though.  His super long arms are a big contributor to his dunks and blocked shots.

IT and Fultz in the backcourt together are going to drive opponents nuts on offense. You figure some loss on defense depending on matchups, but it will be interesting. With Rozier shining in the playoffs, they are loaded in the backcourt and somebody has to go. Most think it might be Bradley.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
IT's ability to finish in traffic at his height is truly astounding. What I attribute it to is his ability, not only to keep his body between the defender and the ball, the but actually seek contact and use the defenders body by bouncing off bigger guys and creating that much more separation after the contact. It's amazing.

I don't know if that kind of instinct can be taught, but IT is certainly a good role model for Fultz to have around.

It's astonishing that he can finish at all at his size, but he is still the most-blocked player in the Association, IIRC.
According to this article from FiveThirtyEight, you are correct that he gets blocked more than anyone in the league. The article also notes, though, that he led the league in drives to the rim and according to BBallRef he was 5th in the league in FTA.

The FT8 article attributes Thomas' ability to finish to the way he uses the rim to avoid blocks. Something he's done more these last two seasons than ever before and there has been a drop in the percentage of shots blocked. So these might be some tricks Fultz can be taught.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/isaiah-thomas-is-using-the-rim-to-outsmart-tall-defenders/

This is helpful information and insight related directly to the thread. Tp.

At the very least, these two have indicated that they are looking forward to working with each other (assuming Boston draft Fultz).

What I found to be really impressive was fultz' ability to change direction and to pull up and shoot.

I am really impressed. And when he drives to the basket he was almost ITesque.

And best of all, both Fultz and IT are huskies!!!! My alma mater.  ;D. Gooooooooo dawgs!

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Yet another thread with Fultz's name on it? Can't wait for the draft because This. Has. To. Stop!

Since I opened it I might as well say how sick our Summer League team is going to be.

Celtics of 2017 Summer League are (will be) what the Golden State Warriors are to the 2017 NBA. Blow out city here we come!
http://www.nba.com/celtics/sidebar/summer-060617-summer-celtics-could-be-most-talented-group-yet/

I'm glad someone agrees with me. Too bad about Yabu. I had him included in the lineup so that is a blow to the "best summer league team of all-time".
