So, let's fast forward a bit to next year. Now that they have demonstrated that a top FA will come to Boston, what do you think happens next?

Looking at this list, I think Hayward and Millsap will be targets next summer. That would give them a  third star, and they would stlil have all of the assets for a potential deal for a 4th guy.

So, if I were Danny:
1) This year, filler on 1 year deals (resign Amir, Jonas, etc.)
2) Play the draft again the same way as this year. See where we land in the lottery, and try to make a deal for Jimmy Butler or whomever comes available. If it's a top 1 or 2 pick, up the asking price.
3) Target Hayward and Millsap next summer.

Big three is old thinking -- we now have two stars -- I think we can realistically end up with four (trade the BKN pick for 1, FA as the other).

Honestly I would target Blake Griffin or Russell Westbrook than Millsap or Hayward.

Listen, I get Hayward and Stevens have a great relationship from their time at Butler and Hayward is a potential 20/5/5 guy, but his defense isn't that great, and also Millsap/Hayward doesn't exactly push the needle for this team. Using up another max slot on either doesn't propel us into legitimate contenders against Cleveland in the East.

Doesn't adding Millsap basically make this the Atlanta Hawks, except Isaiah Thomas essentially replaces Teague?

Also if we are trading the BKN pick for next year and it's projected to be top-3 by the deadline next season, I would want a guy like Cousins but not Butler, unless the Bulls gave us another player and pick as well.

I think Griffin will be the main target, but Hayward is the most realist outcome.  He won't make us a contender, but he will improve the team and is versatile enough to work with Crowder or Brown.  We'll have to hope for one of the young guys or a Brooklyn pick to break out to get to the next level unless Cousins becomes available.

Cousins will become available at the deadline unless SAC miraculously is in the top-4 of the West by the deadline.

They drafted a bunch of bigs... and Cousins clearly wants out. If SAC wants to get the most value out of Cousins, they deal him at the deadline, otherwise I doubt they get a king's ransom during the next offseason when Cousins essentially becomes a one year rental.

I hope so.

Blake Griffin and Al Horford could work really well together. Horford opens the lane for Griffin and Griffin can hit the boards like he used to to help Horford out there. Plus, they're both excellent passers. That could really be something.
