IMO I don't want Curt representing Celtics in any shape or form and if you knew much about him you would agree with me.
and what exactly do you know?

- Was recently fired from ESPN for tweeting meme portraying transgender people as revolting perverts.
- Compared Muslims to Nazis
- Refutes evolution
- Defended South Carolina's flying of the Confederate flag
- Opposes gay marriage

And this is what's wrong with today's society. So a person cannot have his own opinions? He shouldn't be vilified for having these opinions.

Lol your point has been used for decades about Blacks and hispanics. You can easily replace the word 'transgender' or 'gay' with black and you understand it isn't an opinion its bigotry.

If you were Muslim that post would be extremely hurtful, as it essentially saying why take the chance of letting in or associating with muslims because there's a chance they will be a terrorist, would you repeat that statement to Kareem or Muhammad Ali if he was still alive?

Okay, first...

Do you understand what analogies are?

If an average non-Nazi German in the mid-1930's had his feelings hurt by the right side of the meme, would you care? There was something rotten in German culture. A tradition of very bad thinking. It's a cultural thing, a meme system thing, not a racial or ethnic thing.

Yes, I absolutely would bring it up to both Ali and Jabbar, because I cherish having frank, difficult conversations with intelligent people. Your mindmob tries to passive-aggressively control and stifle and censor conversation by Othering and Stigmatizing people who disagree with you because they think you are obliviously, hypocritically betraying your own principles.

You really should chill out bro. No reason to get so worked up over this. Let's just enjoy the Durant talk. Conversations like this don't belong in a Celtics forum.

Save it, mediator. I'm perfectly calm. Calmer than you are.

He did apologize to the poster earlier. You just sound like a bully at this point.

I'm not bullying, I'm explaining.

Let me guess, though: You mostly agree with him?

No I don't. Curt Shilling is not a racist....He called ESPN Racists and Stephen A racist, lol. You're just bringing up a discussion that doesn't belong in this thread. But I'm not also going to pretend Shilling was perfect. A lot of his teammates didn't like him. He rubs people the wrong way.

Freedom of speech/opinions doesn't mean freedom from consequences. How many times does this need to be said?

Also, "I understand where you are coming from and I'm sorry if I upset you" is an empty non-apology reflex that costs nothing in terms of actually opening one's mind and grappling with another perspective. It's corporate HR-behavior instilled in us from childhood, with Soothe Feelings and Mute Conflict sitting atop the hierarchy of needs, rather than Converse Honestly or Think Critically.

So before this thread gets shut down....admit it. How many of us have prayed for Durant? I admit it.

I don't care about Bostons sports, I only care about the Celtics, and I think Curt Schilling is full of ****. I really don't want that guy to be associated with my team in any way, shape or form.

Then again, I'm just a dirty foreigner, who apparently doesn't "get" what it means to be a Boston sports fan, so there you go...
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

It's unfortunate that Schilling's message to KD gets completely ignored due to his controversial opinions. What he wrote to KD captured the essence of what distinguishes the New England fan base from any other. It was heartfelt. It described it from the POV of what a great athlete experienced, and no one can deny that Schil was a great one. It is the reason that Horford, according to his dad, ultimately chose the Celtics.

I disagree with nearly every political point made by Schilling. Even cringe at some of them. But that does not diminish the truth and power of what he wrote to KD. It was beautiful. And persuasive.

I just prayed to God to ask Him to delegate the job of steering Durant here to His subordinate demigods, because I feel like praying for an athletic triumph is a bit sinful, even given His infinite resources, but there's probably a seraphim somewhere helping an old lady pick out bagels and KD in Boston would enliven the spirits of millions, so it's worth His time. By the way, I'm pretty much an atheist. But...not today! :)

Hopefully you didn't offend Her by referring to Her and a he. You probably did. You will have to ask forgiveness.

I'm an Atheist, and I prayed for Kevin Durant to come to the Celtics.

To who? To Morgan Freeman, of course.

Morgan Freeman never answers prayers. Although San Francisco has a lot of atheists. It's possible you were outplayed
