It's unfortunate that Schilling's message to KD gets completely ignored due to his controversial opinions. What he wrote to KD captured the essence of what distinguishes the New England fan base from any other. It was heartfelt. It described it from the POV of what a great athlete experienced, and no one can deny that Schil was a great one. It is the reason that Horford, according to his dad, ultimately chose the Celtics.

I disagree with nearly every political point made by Schilling. Even cringe at some of them. But that does not diminish the truth and power of what he wrote to KD. It was beautiful. And persuasive.

I just prayed to God to ask Him to delegate the job of steering Durant here to His subordinate demigods, because I feel like praying for an athletic triumph is a bit sinful, even given His infinite resources, but there's probably a seraphim somewhere helping an old lady pick out bagels and KD in Boston would enliven the spirits of millions, so it's worth His time. By the way, I'm pretty much an atheist. But...not today!
