Seems some of the rumors I've read is the C's want Covington as well(??).  I know nothing about him except for some quick research.  Anyone else???

Sully pulled down 8 rebounds in 7 less minutes per game than Okafor. Per 36, Okafor grabbed ~8 rebounds to Sully's ~13.

Yep, your comparing a rookie to a guy who has been in the league a few years.  Perhaps you did not understand that.   One was a rookie and one was not.   Normally, people improve from their rookie years.   While you're at it how about comparing their shooting?

I will one shot  44% and the other 51% from the field.  The rookie outshot the 3 year veteran.   Some of this is due to Sully take a shot he has no business taking.  I will take the guy who plays within his game over a guy who thinks he is a stretch four but in all reality was a PF with stretch marks.
Not to mention that Okafor blocked some shots  1.2 BPG to  .6 BPG.  Maybe a change of venue would help him.  We know that staying here has not helped Sully.   Sully is such an unprofessional that he ate himself out of shape during the season and gained weight during the season.   Last season, he ate himself into a foot injury.   Every year he states he will get it together yet does not.  I am interested in hearing your defense from that?

I still think Rookie Okafor was better player than rookie Sully.   One could make a strong argument he is a better player now.      Personally, part of me would rather have Noel because of his D.   But Okafor is not chopped liver, there is a lot of good with some bad there.   The same is true of Sully but has proven for several years.  Time to cut our ties.

I would love to come away with this on draft night. Trade for Okafor, draft Deonta Davis or Valentine with the 16th pick and take Thon Maker with the 23rd. To me that would be a great draft night, and I would probably celebrate way into the morning!!

Covington was the Sixers' second best player last year, and he's making $1m. He's a very solid 3+D wing, could be the Jae Crowder of this trade if we get him. Love the fact that his cap hold next summer will be only $2.5m, allowing us to sign to max FA's and then go over the cap to retain him.

The Nets were supposedly grooming Covington as their starting wing but inexplicably went away from that plan. He should be a decent option off the bench behind Crowder. Has some ability to play the 4 too.

You're right, comparing Okafor to Sully this year isn't fair.  But looking at Sully's rookie season, he still pulled down 10.7 rbd/36, which is much better than Okafor's 8.4 rbd/36.  Even Kelly Olynyk managed 9.4 rbd/36 his rookie season.  Okafor has his strengths, but he's a bad rebounder.

Rebounding rates don't usually increase significantly over a player's career, although with a reduced offensive role Okafor would probably see a modest increase (maybe enough to make him average)
I'm bitter.
