(Assuming Golden State don't choke, and I don't think they will)

1. Another Finals win for Golden State shows that they are the obvious powerhouse in the West, and teams like the Mavericks, Blazers, and Clippers will only get better through Free Agency, good trades or the Draft. Also don't count out the Spurs who could come back strong again next season. Definitely won't be easy for OKC through the West next season.

2. With the Cavaliers losing another Finals, there is no way they are coming back with the same team next season. Unless Lebron and the Front Office have full confidence they can win next season with the same team, they are definitely making moves. It's not like they have the cap space or impact picks in the draft to make it happen immediately, so there will definitely be trades. Essentially, Cleveland will blow it up a bit and try to get another impact player (so Irving and Love could be on the block). Durant should see this and think, "Man, the Cavaliers will be slipping soon. East becomes wide open".

3. The rest of the East could get better, could get worse, who knows? But lets say Horford leaves Atlanta, Bismack and DeRozan leave Toronto, Whiteside leaves Miami, etc. Most teams will lose a lot in Free Agency probably and might not be able to replicate their same success from last season. Meanwhile, the Celtics aren't losing anyone of importance (unless its a trade for an even better player) and could be the 2nd-3rd best in the East next season without Durant. Now with Durant, hmmm...

4. Celtics got tons of picks, and have the cap space. What does that mean? Durant doesn't have to do it alone. The Celtics can trade those picks/assets for a potential #2 option or simply sign a #2 or #3 option in Free Agency to help Durant, Isaiah, "All-NBA First Defense" Bradley, etc. Maybe the Celtics can form a "BIG 3" to counter the Cavaliers "BIG 3".

5. Good to know Celtics are still on Durant's "list of teams in consideration", as it looks like he has already ruled out Houston and Washington (I think Washington, someone correct me if I'm wrong).

6. Celtics have shown the last few seasons and especially on April Fools this year that they can match up with Golden State and play them tight.... or even beat them on their own court and snap their longest home winning streak (that too  ;D ). Get through the East, then play with Golden State (we match up well), and wallah. Easier said than done obviously but it helps we have had some good games with Golden State and we match up well with them. Now imagine us with Durant playing vs. GSW.

7. Last but not least, think about it, if Cleveland wins the Finals, then why would Durant want to come East? Clearly in that case Cleveland would be the best in the NBA hailing from the East, and could push Durant away from coming East and going through Cleveland. Durant would then take his chances through the West again next season.

So yeah, I trust Ainge, Boston/New England companies (like Legal Sea Foods for example, etc.) and everyone involved with the Celtics (legends, KG, Pierce, please help  ;) ) will make their best pitch possible to Durant. Even if he signs a 1+1 with OKC next season, the Celtics should ask Durant what they could do in the next two free agency periods, draft, and the next trade deadline to make Durant want to come here, and Durant next offseason would still be the second best Free Agent available (behind Curry obviously) or third depending on Lebron, but honestly I don't see Curry or Lebron leaving their own teams.

If anything, this NBA Finals might have helped the Celtics in their pitch to Durant if they have any chance. Maybe increased their chances from 1% to 5%  ;D
