Thought I'd check in on this thread to see why it hasn't died already... And now I see that IT is now worth a couple of draft picks??? THANK GOD we are just fans because guaranteed we'd be the sixers is DA followed our advice.

I must be missing something.  We're talking about picking up one of the best 2 way players in the entire league.  A couple years ago, we acquired IT for Marcus Thornton and a late first round pick!

Now you wouldn't trade IT and the #3 pick for, arguably, one of the top 10 players in the entire league?!  A go-to scorer who happens to be a near all-nba defender.  A guy who has a fanatic work ethic and is the best player on ~25 out of 30 nba teams?  Ricky Davis is a pimple on Butlers @ss.  If we do end up with Butler, we're giving up a lot more than this, and it's probably still a good deal.

Just because we stole IT does not mean that is his trade value in a new trade. Jimmy is not top 10, not even arguably. Here's a list of guys ahead of him:

Kevin Durant
Lebron James
Steph Curry
Russell Westbrook
Draymond Green
Damian Lilliard
Paul George
Kawhi Leonard
Blake Griffin
Demarcus Cousins
James Harden (I hate saying this)
Anthony Davis
Chris Paul

Off the top of my head.. I've probably missed a few obvious ones. Arguably he is top 20. He is an upgrade on our roster, he'd be the best player. However he is not taking us to a championship by himself. So I wouldn't give up our current best player to get him, let alone the highest pick we've had since Chauncey Billups!

I would trade #3 for Jokic in a heartbeat and I think the Nuggets would laugh us out of the room.  He is a stud

Jokic and Nurkic are very different players, though.  I'm fine with Jokic, and I think you're right that the Nuggets would never consider trading him.  But Nurkic hasn't shown nearly as much in two years as Jokic has shown in one.

Nevertheless, Nurkic has been impressive - and, not incidentally, he's been especially impressive as a rim protector; that's exactly what Ainge says they're looking for.

Kudos to the Nuggets for their foreign scouting.

Knee injuries are always concerning, especially in such a large man - although it was not a ligament tear.  All that weight coming down through the joint amplifies the risk of a chronic problem.

Is he available? The question turns on: can you play him with Jokic, and is he a long-term starter.  I'm coming down on no for the first question and yes for the second.  So, I think he's available.
