This is exiting season not just for the Celtics but for the NBA. There are a lot of interesting teams worth watching. But the NBA is changing, it is not anymore like if you have Jordan you win titles. Examples: Durant 9 years w/o title, Lebron just 2 out of 6 finales, A.Davis can't get to the playoffs...
Why is that? Because now to win a title you need a great organization, great coach and great TEAM. Yes team and not a single superstar. ( Lebron has 2 other superstars still didn't win with CLE ) The whole NBA now has many good players and stars not just a few and new ones are emerging every day. Examples: Thomas 60th pick, Millsap late second round, D.Green second rounder, CJ McCollum is becoming a star and last season he basically didn't play. Times changed and now more players can became stars not just the top 3 picks on the draft.
Chris Paul out of the playoffs and people are saying Clippers are done. Curry injured and people are saying no problem for Warriors. That says a lot about how deep, versatile and good the Warriors are.
Now a few words about the Celtics and this series. First i want to say that ATL-BOS is the best series right now in the playoffs. Both teams have good players, good coaches, play very beautiful and modern basketball.
Matchups over talent. Well people say talent over everything in the NBA. Not in 2016 not in modern NBA. Matchups over talent i say. If was all about talent ATL would have won 4-0 and the same would happen if BOS had traditional coach who would play traditional unit over versatile one.
Why Brad the modern coach? He didn't played his best players but the best matchups. I will start with game 1 when the defense was concentrated on Korver and that leaved space for Teague and Schroder. Game 2 was terrible but at least he gave chance to Rozier to prove that he can help with their PG's. Game 3 new approach, best players will not play but best matchups. Game 4 we all know about putting Smart on Millsap brave decision.
I believe BOS can win the series but can't beat CLE. Doesn't matter great season anyway even if we lose to ATL. Ainge and Steven are doing great things and most important for the summer, bring a superstar but not just a superstar but a superstar that fits the team or not a superstar just a good players that fits the team. Meaning, to be able to play team basketball, to be able to play good defense, to be able to play high tempo...
