i thought nba power forwards would snap him in two-just watching tapes from spain didn't help that opinion but when he did a draft workout it was wow-
so i got fooled by porzingis but that doesn't mean that danny waiting all this time for a high pick needs to draft a potential bust like bender
there are 3 freaks playing in france one has 7 ft 8 reach-perfect for draft and stash
another thing all these big guys seem to be getting knee problems
Youssoufa Fall
7'3'' w/o shoes, 7'8'' wingspan
I am guessing but he must have at least a 9'5'' standing reach and could go as high as 9'9''

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Youssoufa-Fall-79277/stats/
I thought he was actually older but he is just 20. It lists that he is 271lbs but the most recent article says he gained 50 pounds, so he may be closer to 300, depending on the dates they updated his profile. He looks like he is in good shape and has a great frame from pics, videos, and commentary.
People should do their own research on his mobility. They say he is mobile and athletic for his size, but has awkward movements at times. Awkward movements could be a review of his offensive game and moves in the post instead of a critique on his mobility.

I have not seen someone this big (including length)and with the potential for such power.

TP for anyone who gets good videos of Jeanne and Fall...even if I have seen them I will give you a tp.
is he related to tacko?
?
tacko fall. 7'6 guy from UCF

I think that pic is from a few years ago, he now reaches the rim

If you think that Bender will be a bust, sure go ahead and give us your arguments...

But saying that you were wrong about Porzingis is not much of an argument rly smh

the key word was potential bust i think that first pick should be used on more of a lock and just because he is 7-1 doesn't mean someone a couple inches shorter may make  better power forwards
i have admitted being wrong on porzingis and my prejudice against euro giants-i think we have some bigs in this draft that  that have much less risk of being a bust

No connection between title and content of OP happened.

Good college career, excellent length for a forward. However, he is 24 yo and plays at the DLeague. 99% a draft bust (he was  at nr 28 anyway).

There is a long list of successful Euro bigs in the NBA: Nowitzki, Divac, Kirilenko, Kukoc, Pachulia, Mozgov, Diaw, Pekovic, Vucevic, Gasol brothers.

Most of them picked  lower than they proved to be worth.

And yes, the fans originally expected most of them to be busts.

Moreover, given that height is the key parameter here, and super tall ppl are only a tiny % of the world population, it follows that PF and esp. center are the most international of positions (Olajuwon, Yao Ming, Horford and so on)

But you are right. Bender is European, therefore he's more likely to be a bust.

I think what concerns me about guys these tall are injuries, particularly foot ones.

Here is a list of articles relating extreme height to NBA career altering injuries. I also included a couple other injury based articles.

Years ago I read a publication, perhaps it was Sports Illustrated, that broke down the mechanics of why 7-foot basketball players are prone to knee and foot injuries. It was a great read, unfortunately it is not on this list.
