had another low scoring game,i believe he plays better up and his bbiq doesn't want to adapt to d league style-
also he might not to want to get hurt running off the rust
he is not the type to take over games but will facillitate and fit in
i have identified with rj and his abilities while being thin and impressed by his early transition on defence with nba minutes but his shot has vaporized and has not returned
nobody has said in print that he is a knock down shooter ala gigi comments, even in practice
unfortunately if he cant become that
 he should be gone quickly
bbiq and length without knockdown shooting can't overcome his slight frame-

Too early to give up on him... He never had consistent minutes to find a good rhythm in the NBA yet... but he has range, of that I am sure

i agree and his focus was learning defensive  and offencive  movement and fitting in-he did well very few embarassing defensive errors and ball movement never was hindered -his pocket pass was predictable but beyond that was impressive!!!!!!!

impossible to get any rhythm under those circumstances, their were stretches in games when you wouldn't know he was a rookie-

i am not one to judge a player in their first year. and what i have seen of hunter is impressive in terms of bb iq, passing, etc.

but his shooting needs to improve to be sure. it may come around yet, but his last year in college wasnt all that impressive at 30.5% for 3 pointers. so he has to prove to his doubters that he can shoot.

but he has time to do just that. it will be fun to watch and see how he does.

His basketball IQ is encouraging but if he can't shoot a higher percentage from 3 then  he's not a useful NBA player.

That being said, with where we drafted him, if the C's get anything out of him it will be a boon.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

We keep drafting the same position. how the Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. we gonna get these players to develop if they gotta fight the bench player starters for playing time.  They're rookies but he'll look at James young.  If he was worth a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. where could he fit in at when we already have log jams at sg.  Stevens needs to do a better job gettin these young guys minutes.

Perhaps.  But can we all promise not to have amnesia about what happened this year come next summer?  This past summer we had threads about how R.J. Hunter should be starting.

TP for the topic, rollie. I made a post about RJ following the two preseason games. It was presumptuous, but I argued that he should spend the majority of the year with the Cs rather than Red Claws. Here's a quote:

Quote
Final point: Some players have historically elevated their games when paired and competing with superior talent. I place RJ in that category, as he appears to fit the mold of said players pretty closely -- high BBIQ, focus, confidence, translatable skills, and motivation. If that is the case, he belongs with the team more often than he does in Maine, for his development and the team's benefit. Is this presumptuous? Sure...

Just thought he had a better chance of developing with the team rather than Maine. In my experience, some higher BBIQ players develop/play better with superior players. I still think RJ fits that mold. Hope he finds his way, enjoyed watching him early on.

Whose minutes should he take?  Smart? Bradley? Crowder? Turner?

We're not the tankin' Sixers.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I guess this why Danny tried to trade so many picks for Winslow or Turner. We ended up (will end up) with several guys who will be lucky to make it in this league at all. I am not saying everybody will be a bust, but it is a little concerning that none of our rookies (or Young) are even close to breaking into the rotation for even five-ish minutes a game. I guess we all just have to hope that they can further develop.
