The LAL pick is 1-3 protected.

If they finish second there is a 44.2% of losing it to Philly; if they finish third from bottom the % goes up to 53.1. Given that after a season of hard tanking last thing you want is to lose the high pick you worked so hard for, continue tanking is rly important for LAL.

The recent flow of good results was due to the young players taking things in their own hands with Kobe on restricted mins or injured. They still have two games to play against each other PHX (both in March).

Having said this, LAL has three losses more than Phoenix and has also played two more games. Moreover, at some point Kobe will return to floor to continue his goodbye tour and the bad results will continue coming; I also trust Byron Scott to continue being incompetent.

tl;dr LAL is still the favourite for the second spot. Very roughly, I'd put the odds at 70/30 in their favour.

PS this thread probably belongs to Around the NBA rather than Celtics Talk.

If LA wants to continue in its tanking ways they need to keep giving Kobe big minutes.
