Marcus Smart is not on Bruce Bowen's level as a defender. That's like saying a grasshopper can fly because it can jump really high.
Different position but he's going to be in the same category of great defenders. He's already awesome and Bowen wasn't even in the NBA when he was Smart's age, was he? And he didn't establish himself for years.
Sure, Marcus Smart could get there, I'm saying, Bruce Bowen, Tony Allen, if there was a NBA Defensive HOF, these guys are first ballot. Marcus Smart hasn't shown anything resembling that kind of consistency yet.
Disagree. Smart is as consistent ruthless defender as they come. Just hasn't played enough like Bowen/allen
Smart without consistency/effeficient manner on the offensive end may not be much of a better player than either of these two. But in the end this would not be a bad thing at all
Hoping for more on the offensive end would be like adding some extra whip cream.
Smart like AB and under CBS system can't be driving in too frequently. Bc the team needs him to play defense (bread and butter). Smart has to fix his jump shot though. If he fixes his jump shot = Bowen
If he can't = tony Allen
If he can become more explosive = dwade. But also that might mean a career with full of injuries.
I'm hoping for Bruce bown/Derek Fisher like result.
