Griffin and Paul are great players. I have two primary issues with them: 1) They whine waaaay too much; 2) I could be wrong, but I feel like they aren't "big game" players.

I think on a different team, in a different market, Blake could be a lot more likable.  But he's taking his cues from Doc and Chris Paul, and there's just not a lot to like about them.

Going back to the Amare comparison, imagine Blake on a colorful, fun team like the mid-00's Suns.

There are two levels of "stars" ...

(1) MVP winners/1st Team All NBA players

(2) All-Stars


The first level contains maybe 5-10 people.  Of these, maybe 2-4 can be put on any roster in the NBA with an automatic expectation of challenging for the conference finals, possibly NBA finals.  They are:

1) Curry
2) Lebron
3) Durant
4) Westbrook
5) Paul
6) Duncan (can't take him out with the Spurs being that good).

7-10 in this tier are highly debatable. Dirk could also be in this tier under the Duncan Rule.

The next tier is filled with 15-30 players that already are or could be All-Stars.  Some are closer to the top than others.  It's too deep to list here and we shouldn't even discuss it.

This list looks like it is very much considering potential.  Towns shouldn't be in that second group.  There is no way that he is playing better than Draymond right now.  I don't think Giannis is even sniffing that third tier.  I also think Kawhi is at worst, even with PG13, and even that is being generous.

I think approaching it from a potential standpoint is the right way to look at it, since the premise started with who you might trade for.

That's fair.  Guess the title just mislead me a bit.  The same for a lot of the banter in the thread.
