I like IT but he is not an all star

He is a nice 6th man.

All star don't shoot at the fg rate he is at. Also make crucial game winners

Again no knock on our little guy

James Harden and Damian Lillard would disagree.

And Thomas averages more clutch points than Lillard and about the same as Harden, on better percentages.

I see the All-Star game as a showcase of the best talent the league has to offer RIGHT NOW.  It's supposed to be a fun and entertaining fluff match for the sake of the fans.  A distilled version of all that is fun and exciting about the game in this moment in time, at least from a casual fan's perspective.

Kobe is an icon of the sport, that's true, but hey, give him a career achievement award or something.  If he's on the court, he makes the game less fun to watch.  Period.  He stinks, he knows it, and he doesn't care.

Kyrie, at least, is one of the game's young stars, and when healthy he has flashy moves and is appealing to watch.  He represents the present and future of the league.  Kobe is entirely in the past.

Thing is, the commissioner has said he wants him there

The fans obviously want him there in the majority (I am kind of neutral overall, just understand it)
and I believe even a few players said they thought he deserved the spot and had no problem with it. So if all those people are ok with it, it seems pretty hard to argue (not to mention it makes the league money on top of it).

Now irving, if he makes it and derozen or lowry don't make it because of him, in a season that he has played 15 half games in, I don't think they will be understanding and feel Irving deserves it. I also don't think it is clear the fans clearly want him there if he ends up squeaking in by 20k votes. I also don't think the majority of coaches would think it is the right thing to do either.

Lowry is shooting 41%, Irving at 40%, IT at 42% wall at 43%, not sure where you are getting your comment from.

Is that to me? I agree with you. His percentages are on par with other All-stars. And he has hit big shots. Thomas averages more clutch points than Lillard and about the same as Harden, on better percentages.

Defensive rating is basically the same as Bradley.

Last month he has been really good defensively.

http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/202738/tracking/defense/?Season=2015-16&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&DateFrom=12%2F15%2F2015&DateTo=01%2F15%2F2016

Guys he is guarding are shooting 14% from three against him. Players are shooting a total of -4% against him during this last month.

Oh, I want him there too.

I just don't want him to take a roster spot, let alone a starting spot, from somebody else who, you know, is actually good, not to mention fun to watch.

Like I said, give him a career achievement nod.  Have him come out onto the court at halftime and say a few words, shake hands with commissioner, whatever.  I don't care.  Having him play in the All-Star game isn't going to improve the event.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

It's a real bummer for me when undeserving players take spots from guys who deserve a spot.

Both Kobe Bryant and Kyrie Irving are in that category right now.

It stinks

Yep, it's ridiculous. There should be a minimum game limit played, because Kyrie has been out far longer than he's been playing. Hell, after playing two games I think he was over Wall for All Star votes.

And the Kobe thing is ridiculous. He's got enough awards and favoritism over the years, so I see no reason to gift him another All-Star bid when he definitely does not deserve it.

Didn't Kyrie win the All-Star game MVP?

I imagine that is working in his favour. People know him from that and are excited by how he played in that game.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Isaiah Thomas is an all star.
