Hard for a guy to do well in like 5 minutes a game every 7th game

Pretty common for that to be the case with rookies.

Plus, he was a pretty streaky shooter in college.

It's very difficult to get your shot going when you only take a couple of shots a game.  He will be fine when he gets steady minutes.  Everything else about his game looks good. ;)

I think RJ Hunter is more a scorer than a shooter.

Like an Adam Morrison rather than a JJ Redick.

I have all the faith in the world in RJ being fine. last night though he was shooting like Courtney lee when he was here. he was turning his body and shooting sideways...for no reason.

I'm mildly concerned because of the poor final year in college, combined with what we've seen so far, but I'm chalking most of it up to figuring things out in his first year in the league.

I am anticipating that his catch and shoot game will be the focus of his summer and will be much better next season. This is admittedly based on the fact that he was a good 3 point shooter for his first 2 years in college, and also that he "looks the part" even though the results aren't there yet.

TP for that one.  I'm starting to think that also.  Of course he can be much better player than Morrison but I agree with the premise.  That's how they were viewed when they were drafted.

He was 6 of 12 from 3 the one game he played in Maine, when he got 30+ minutes.

RJ Hunter shot 30.5% from 3 (and just 39.5% overall) his final year in college.  That was his worse shooting season the other two were 39.5 and 36.5 (still not great for a supposed shooter). This notion that he was a great shooter always seemed strange to me.  He isn't a guy that tore it up from deep in college and he was at a small school where he likely had a significant size and talent upgrade over most of his competition.

Another shooter struggling early in his career is Nik Stauskas, but unlike Hunter, Stauskas actually shot the ball very well in college (44 and 44.2 from 3 his two seasons) and he played at a major program in a major conference.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner
