If we are offering a max contract to a SG I think N Batum is a much better fit.  Better defense and better 3 point shot than Demar.
I agree with this. I hope we offer Drummond and make Detroit match.
Barnes to me also would be better to me.

Sure, I'd offer Drummond and Barnes first.  I'd offer Durant and Horford first too, for what it matters.  But there's no way Detroit doesn't match on Drummond, and it's unlikely Golden State doesn't match on Barnes.  The contracts to Thomas, Bradley, and Crowder can help subsidize paying another play more money than you should.  Is DeRozan choice number 1? No.  Is he a viable option to improve this team?  Absolutely.

I would try to trade for Gallinari but I like Derozan a lot

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Aim2please summarizes Derozan's strength...He's 'elite' at drawing fouls. He takes 8.6 Fts per game, makes 85% of them. So basically he gets you 7 free points every game. That's amazing. Only Harden and Cousins are taking more Fts per game. That's an elite skill and a major ingredient for a good offense.

But his three point shooting means that you need shooters on the floor with him...but you need shooters with Derozan anyway because Derozan is one of the best in the NBA at getting into the paint and drawing in defenders...a crucial ingredient (along with swinging ball movement) for getting high quality 3 point attempts....

good discussion anyway.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."
