Any thoughts of the Sixers trading Embiid are absurd. They are hanging the hopes of their franchise on his return to health.

Agreed. It makes no sense for them to trade him, at the very least until he's healthy and playing. They're far far more likely to trade either JO or Noel.

If we traded the 18 Nets pick (almost guaranteed to be top 5) for Embiid (could be retired by then) I would wait outside the facility for Ainge.

the idea that that pick is 'guaranteed to be top 5' is one i've never understood.  with all the money available in the next few upcoming offseasons and a billionaire at the helm who is hellbent on winning that is now totally 100% in charge of every action and contract, there is no way to me that brooklyn doesn't do everything they can to acquire new talent, even if it means overpaying.  there are plenty of teams that will be in flux every year needing to blow it up and start over, and for every team that does that, it's another team that Brooklyn can pass, as they have already hit rock bottom i'd say.  i'd go so far as to say the most valuable Brooklyn pick to me is, and has always been, this year's pick.

I was always under the impression that the Williams move combined with the Johnson contract coming off the books after this season was a calculated effort in order to have as much space as possible to throw at free agents.  and there WILL be FAs that find the prospect of playing with a legitimate nba center and in the Brooklyn/NY market highly appealing.  just my .02

I get what you are saying, and obviously I can't 100% guarantee that it will be a top 5 pick, but if I had my choice at any team's 2018 first rounder, I would take the Nets.  They have no young prospects or draft picks.  It is the least appealing roster in terms of future assets in the entire league.  I really don't see them being able to turn things around prior to 2020.  They could be really, really bad the next 3-4 years.

Nerlens Noel.  Perfect Fit.

I give up Sullinger, Young, and the Celtics own 1st round pick in 2016.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.

For A D only C. I don't think so. Young is going to blossom. Sully will stay with us for the 5th year.

Nerlins is a great fit, he's cat quick, runs the floor, defends the rim, his offense will get better. He's young, it would be a chance for him to settle in with a core group of guys he could grow with. And he's from the area too.
Just don't give the Nets picks.

I like Nerlens, but I don't really think he fits the flow of the team. I don't see him as a threat in pick-n-rolls and due to his limited shooting range he'll clog up the lanes, which is a deal breaker for me since we're already short of shooters to space the floor.

Not to stray, but instead of Nerlens I may prefer taking a swing at Gorgui Dieng... he shows a bit more promise with his shot.

Nerlens defense is god-like tho.
