He was big in game 1 vs the cavs. Just could not stay out of foul issues.
I think that's an incorrect take of the situation. He was very good offensively, particularly off the bench. Then Stevens inserted him as a starter in the 3rd quarter, and he was exposed for what he could offer, just couldn't keep up with the Cavs' bigs... defensively in part, but just couldn't rebound against them; couldn't keep them off the glass.
Foul trouble was really a non-factor when you have Sullinger, Jerebko, and Bass all able to play minutes.
Stevens didn't learn it soon enough, or selectively didn't want to see it, until game 3 where he barely played Olynyk. He's Steven's binky sadly, and I worry about this would mean going forward.
So, in my opinion, if you have an Olynyk going full-on offensively (2-3 from 3s, and 5-7 overall) and couldn't manage to carve up a meaningful role for the rest of the series because he couldn't keep up with the opposing bigs, then I'm not sure what value he'll have on the floor for us. An off the bench role-player at most, Stevens will give him a bigger role than that to my disappointment. Will just have to cross my fingers that he proves me wrong.
