  • Celtic's only raise championship Banners
I think I said the best thing Ainge could have done was to let go of: Bass, Jonas, Crowder, GIGI right after trade deadline passed. They were not going to do anything but help us win meaningless games (which they did) and they were not part of our future.

"But we added value to them, Future Celtics Owner". OK like we did with HUMP last year, and we got what? A protected 2nd rounder that we never got.....greaaaaat

Those meaningless games also cost us Winslow at the very least since Miami would have made the 8th seed. Awful. Just awful. Ainge needs to be fired

Tonight is proof positive that making the playoffs and getting swept was are horrible strategic blunder on the part of the Celtics. The draft was 10 to 11 players deep and we missed out. I fear the Celtics are looking at NBA purgatory, 40 to 50 wins and no title chances, for years. I have doubts the Celtics will get the kind of top flight free agents they need as they are simply not close enough to contention. Along with the weather, taxes, lack of nightlife and poor secondary market for earnings that are often brought up when discussing Boston as a FA destination. Overall in the end I am confused by tonight's draft but really my frustration begins with the poor decision to go for the playoffs when long term it will hurt the Celtics.

1.  No draft is 10 to 11 players deep.  The 1984 draft is widely regarded as one of the best ever with Olajuwon, Jordan, Barkley, Stockton, Sam Perkins, Kevin Willis and Michael Cage.  It still had Melvin Turpin going at #6, Lancaster Gordon going at #8 and the immortal Leon Wood being drafted #10.  And of course Jerome Kersey started his 17-year NBA career by being drafted #46.

2.  I'm not sure a military analogy is appropriate, given that people like you don't want to fight at all.  You just want victory handed to you.

Yea it's scary that pick made no sense at all to me and now I'm getting worried about Danny falling in love with undersized players in a league of big people.  :-[

Those that remarked about IT IMO we should not have traded for him unless he brings Love here otherwise mega mistake.

Also like to say to all the IT lovers out there I predict by the All-star break you will hate him. It will be painful to watch a 5'9" ball hog jacking up shots non-stop alienating the rest of his teammates.

I thought Ainge made it pretty clear that making the playoffs last year was not a hoped for thing.  The East was just that bad a conference.

Then he should have never hired Brad Stevens or traded for Isaiah Thomas then.

Come on, now.

1.) You have to have a coach

2.) Waiting on Thomas until the end of the year might have meant missing out on Thomas

Then get M.L carr then, Isaiah is a good player you shouldn't grab him if you don't want to win.

They won just 25 games with Brad Stevens a year ago.  This is another case where Ainge is his own worst enemy.  It's the Ryan Gomes syndrome of finding a group of players who are better than the dregs, but still nowhere near good enough.
