He smokes pot which many NBA players do, and should be legal anyways, to regulate his depression.

If it is working so well, why is he leaving the NBA?    I am all for pot advocacy but it is clear that it is not regulating his mental illness or he would be staying in the league.

I like this guy much better than McGee.  Seems like he has much more upstairs going on than Javale.  After reading this piece on ESPN,  I really think he would do well in the Celtic's system nest season. Would be a great rim protector and I bet Danny could get him at a decent discount.  Sanders is obviously a very intelligent dude and his main issue is smoking the gange which is legal now in four states and Washington DC.  It can be prescribed legally in over half the states for his diagnosis.  Cannot see any other center available in free agency that Danny could get and all the good ones will be gone when we draft.  I know his name has been mentioned here but thought this article was a interesting read.
Even if he has a prescription, I'm pretty sure it is still not allowed in the NBA. The NBA and NFL have bans on other drugs that are legal. I'm sure the argument is that there are other drugs that are allowed that treat his issues. For example (correct me if I'm wrong) adderol is a banned substance in the NBA/NFL that is prescribed for ADD/ADHD.

I would love to bring him in next year if he says he has his head straight. No reason to discuss him until he says he is ready to come back.
Players union should address marijuana issue in next contract.  I cannot imagine Sanders sitting out in the future.  He can make too much easy money and I bet he comes back next season.  I can see Riley snatching him up for the Heat and beating Danny to the punch seeing that Sanders is from Florida.  Bottom line is this team will not be serious until we get someone to protect that rim.  I just do not see anybody else out there except Mcgee and I do not want to see Javale in green.  Still cannot believe Danny went after him.

You need to ask for an exemption via an appeal process with a doctor's note for a lot of drugs that are either PEDs, test positive as PEDs, or are common PED masking agents.

Asthma inhalers for example are often steroidal.

I haven't seen anything that suggests that marijuana use regulates depression.

ROFL another Larry Sanders thread, really?

He can go play in China, only people that are a complete mess take a buy out for pennies on the dollar of a guaranteed contract. Anyone that thinks he is a competent player/person needs to be questioned.

Come on guys enough already with this f&%$tard.

Your empathy and valuing of the dollar over attempting to find mental comfort are admirable.

It's a hard world if you want to baby the weak have at it. DA is trying to build a team he doesn't have time to hand out tissues all day.

You have any better solutions?  Gasol and Cousins are not walking thru that door and there will not be any rim protectors available when we draft.

Yea how about anyone that actually wants to play basketball?

If that's true, that's ridiculous and the NBA should be ashamed of themselves.  Wow. :o

Just as he did with Whiteside.  Ugh.
