Where am I rushing to judgement? I just said that the current level will be disappointing to me if he doesn't improve. Then some folks rushed to tell me that he's a "20-year old rookie with half a season of experience".

Well, that's all nice and true, but it's no guarantee that he'll improve in this particular area (or at all). Just look at Rondo.

I think you misunderstood me. I said the thing about him being 20. The fact that there's no "guarantee" was exactly *my* point. Some 20 year old rookies get a lot better. Some don't.

Smart is a nice player even at the level he plays at now. He is able to drive and does so as off late - I was a little skeptic before the last 3-4 games about that. Since he drives more often now I was able to see some things he has to improof on next. The issue with his drives are not the drives but the finish. His and Presey passing is the best the C's have to offer at the guard position. Both are able to find team mates and complete passes on a dribble drive. What Markus seems to be lacking is the ability to score via lay up. He doesnt have a floater in his arsenal at the moment. The floaters he attemped so far where no good and looked like random tosses. Tommy said in the Denver game I think that his pullup jumper was his bread and butter before he came to the NBA. I have no idea if thats true.

Its still early in his carrier - he has a lot of time to become a better scorer. Maybe he allready shows a little improofment after the all-star break.

Also unlike for Avery the team doesnt run plays for him to score. He takes his 3s if he is open and I like how he is not just volume shooting 3s like Sully at times.
