both are bad deals.

first adds an unproven SG that's admittedly is showing some life this year but it's still speculation he can turn into a starter.  Also, we lose our PG for yet another SG.  the pick will be non-lottery once Rondo gets there.

second trade is giving up Rondo, Green and 3 picks for basically Mclemore and 2 firsts which will worsen quickly as Rondo and Green improve the performance of their new teams.

I think you've overestimating how much each team benefits from the trades. You think Green will turn Detroit into anything other than a mid-tier lottery team? I can't really see that.

I could see the Kings pick argument. I originally had their 2015 pick, because I figured it would take them some time to put things together. However, they don't have their pick this year, so I had to do 2017. So the 2017 pick does have a chance at being a higher pick IF they all create chemistry, the West weakens, and they all stay together, making several conditions necessary for that to happen.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
If Ainge does decide to trade Rondo, this is probably what he's going to be looking at

Something like Stauskas or McLemore plus Derrick Williams and maybe a pick for Rondo.

Unless Rondo's play dramatcially improves over the next couple months where his value increases, which at that point, the question would be: Why even trade him to being with?

If this is the trade that hes looking at then Danny should just hang up.

McLemore wont move the needle moving froward, and he'll hinder the development of James Young. Also, tjat 2017 pick would probably be in the late teens.

We're trading Rondo for assets? We have plenty of assets. Its time we move those and get Rondo a.much better supporting cast or use them WITH Rondo and get a franchise player.

I am with you - we have enough assets. I would be willing to trade anything we have if it meant bringing in a bonafide star / definite future star. I am ready to cash in - perhaps next summer is when we will see the real fireworks.

I like the second one.

Use our first to draft one of the good Centers since we'll be pretty bad
Use Detroits pick to draft Stanley Johnson as our SF of the future

Smart/ Mclemore or AB / Johnson / Sully / Good Center (Towns/Okafor/Turner/WCS)

I think that straight swap with Sacto is probably the best possible deal we could get for Rondo, although I'm thinking we'd probably get Stauskas and not Mclemore.

Great words from a great man

I totally agree that's what we should do.

I am just having a hard time picturing the Celts acquiring all-star talent to pair up with Rondo.

For example, I would love to see a Melo or Marc Gasol walk through that door, but I don't know how likely that is.

I would do unspeakable things in order for the C's to get Detroit's 2015 #1 pick.  But that is not happening.

I disagree on Green's impact to Detroit.  by swapping him for Smith, Detroit gets a more polished offensive player that's a natural 3.  they have a better balance.  Detroit is grossly underperforming right now based on the talent on that roster--similar situation as Milwaukee last year.  I just can't see them being that horrendous all season especially if they swapped Green for Smith
