This is an ideal Rondo offer I think. Hopefully something similar can get done.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=k9cz7y3

BOS trades: Rajon Rondo, Kelly Olynyk, 2015 LAC 1st rounder
BOS receives: Jonas Jerebko, Joel Anthony, 2015 DET 1st rounder (top 3 protected in 2015, unprotected 2016-beyond), 2015 NOP 1st rounder (from Houston; 1-3 protected/20-30 protected in 2015 and in future drafts should it not be conveyed, should fall within 10-14)

DET trades: Brandon Jennings, Jonas Jerebko, Joel Anthony, 2015 DET 1st rounder
DET receives: Rajon Rondo, Jason Terry, Donatas Montiejunas, 2015 LAC 1st

HOU trades: Jason Terry, Donatas Montiejunas, 2015 NOP 1st rounder
HOU receives: Brandon Jennings, Kelly Olynyk

Let Jeff Green opt out and free up the cap space. Take the best deals available for Thornton, Bass, and obviously Wallace. Let's assume Danny doesn't find a deal he likes for any of them.

That should give us a pick in the top five (our own), 5-10 (Detroit's), and 10-14 (Pels') in this year's draft. Let's say we have to move our pick and Detroit's pick for the number one pick. Trade our second rounder and Philly's second rounder for a 1st 25-30. Select Willie Caulie-Stein with NOP's 1st. Select Andrew Harrison with the 1st 25-30.

Paul Pierce opts out of WSH deal. Pierce signs a two year, $10 mil/year deal with a player opt-out after one year. Sign a vet backup guard like Jannero Pargo on a cheap one-year deal. Sign a vet F/C like Reggie Evans.

Marcus Smart/Andrew Harrison/J. Pargo
Avery Bradley/Evan Turner/[James Young]
Paul Pierce/James Young/[Evan Turner]/Gerald Wallace
Jared Sullinger/R. Evans/[T. Zeller]/D. Powell
Jahlil Okafor/T. Zeller/W. Caulie-Stein

Depending on the progression of Smart and Sullinger, I think that could be a playoff team. We'd be sitting pretty with loads of young talent, plenty of future picks still in stock, our old captain back, and plenty of cap space heading into the 2016 offseason.

Thoughts?

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

I think you will need to rework that trade. The trade machine doesn't always have accurate information. The Celtics should not be able to reacquire Joel Anthony in the same season that they traded him.

Besides, If I'm Houston, I see DMo and KO as a wash and I don't see enough of an upgrade from Terry to Jennings to warrant the Pelican's pick, especially when you compare Terry's expiring contract to Jennings non-expiring contract and I think they don't want to give up the cap flexibility in the offseason to make a slight upgrade now. Jennings is not really that big of an upgrade over Jeremy Lin, the guy they paid a 1st round pick to get rid of this offseason. The Rockets May be willing to part with a second, but the Pels 1st, IMHO wouldn't be on the table.

The Detroit part of it depends upon what Rondo and his agent are telling the teams and I'm not privy to that information. If Ainge is pretty sure he can resign him, then we aren't getting enough value. If Rondo has given Ainge reason to believe that he won't resign, than I'm thanking the basketball gods that I can recoup a high lottery pick. The rest of the deal is basically trading KO to swap the LAC pick for the Pels pick and I'm undecided on that but for now. It's close and I can see points for both sides but for now, if I'm Ainge, I pass and let my young guys develop instead of churning young assets. That and the reason stated earlier that I don't think Houston will deal the Pels pick makes me want to rework this deal to just involve Boston and Detroit.

Now if I'm the Pistons, if Rondo guarantees them that he will sign there long term, I'm willing to sacrifice the high pick (might want to extend that protection though. I'd shoot for 10 and settle for 5). If Rondo, doesn't give them any such assurances, no way in hell do I give up a high lottery pick for a possible half-season rental in a lost season.

I doubt that just two fairly high picks is enough to get the #1 Overall pick. I know Philly already has two young big men so may be willing to move the pick, but I think they still demand a godfather type deal or will use the pick and sort things out after they see the further development of Noel and see how Embiid's health is.

As for the letting Green walk, signing Reggie Evans (I'd rather resign Jerebko), and the rest. I don't like any of that.

In this scenario, I'd rather seen Sully traded while keeping KO.  Then start Okafor at the 4 and WCS at the 5 with Kelly backing up the 4 and Zeller backing up the 5.
