BballTim said.....This is probably true. I checked out a few other sites before I started coming here and the difference was fairly big. Although some of the posters we've picked up over the last few years have dragged down the level of the forums. It's still better than I remember from other sites though.

please by all means leave some links to these sites, I would be very interested!!!

Have to agree with this post.  A couple years ago I checked out other Celtics forums and found this to be the most active, interesting and informative.  Just for kicks I tuned into other SB Nation NBA team's sites and noticed a profound difference in usage here than in most other cities.

Even contending teams like Dallas paled in comparison to the number of postings we generate here.  (Of course, Dallas fans may have been posting more frequently on other Dallas forums that I'm not familiar with.)  If I remember correctly the Lakers had more active members, but many of the posts were either bizarre or off topic.  I imagine that's changed since.  Or, perhaps I wasn't looking at their SB Nation site.

My guess is that many of the posters on this site are addicted to it.  Perhaps, checking a couple times a day or night.  It's almost like we are living in an alternate universe just waiting for the next tidbit of information to process and give our approval or disapproval.

I partially agree with the OP original statement, "Often enough I simply can't believe what I'm reading here."  He goes on and sites examples.
One of my main "can't believe" examples would be from posters who are   disappointed/frustrated that Rondo and Smart can't/don't shoot better.  It's almost as unrealistic as expecting Bass to be able to dribble like Pressey.  Five years from now I expect the same posts sharing the same unrealistic expectations.

This thread is a microcosm of what I like about cb.  Just read over the posts and you find a range of replies, but most are thoughtful, respectful, and helpful. Before posting, more folks here do their homework than most other sites.

But if you want another site, try sonsofsamhorn.com. I am a member there as well. There, you do your homework really really well or they rip you to pieces. heck, often they tear into you even if you do your homework  :) but there are really high quality posters there, though mostly on baseball and the red sox.

This place is much friendlier. So I migrate back and forth between them.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Best just ignore the threads that bother you .

I only post on Celtics blog .

But I visit or spy and many others ... :D

Most are posted by kids  , with nothing more to do than tongue lash each other post after post , after post .....very boring .

I find myself very wrong a lot ....and from this I learn

This site has morphed into something special over the years.  I believe it is the only blog with a chat room, and is one of the few, if not the only, to have a well defined Forum section for fans to expound on their chosen peeves and favorites.  It now has audio and visual components in conjunction with CLNS radio to give on scene home  post game discussion.

Jeff and his staff have worked very hard to implement and incorporate the best suggestions of staff and members to continuously improve the participation and enjoyment of members.

Those of you who are familiar with me know that I love my Celtics, but I am also fond of the "off topic" discussions and games that are offered here.  They are run, for the most part, by the members, but are actively moderated by the staff to make sure the Blog rules are being observed.  Sometimes things are missed, but for the size of the staff (see "Mast Head) and the number of members, I think the staff does a great job keeping the Blog clean, friendly, and readable.

I also belong to a few other Celtics blogs (I don't think there can be too many Celtics blogs  ;) ) and I  appreciate this thread.

A couple of hints:

When you see a post, often not even rephrased, repeated multiple times in the same thread--remember the poster.  They should have educated you that you can probably skip over their offerings without losing much.

If you run across a thread offering a trade and it doesn't warn in the title that it is just an idea, move on.

If you stick with this site, double check the poster on offerings you find particularly unsatisfying.  Odds are their future prose will be similarly irritating and you can save yourself some grief by just skipping past.

One final note, this site has a much higher percentage of well thought out ideas, often backed with details and supporting evidence.  True, this evidence frequently falls under the third type of the Three-Liars triumvirate, statistics, but even that often sparks some insightful exchanges.  You've stumbled on a jewel mine and are carping about the tailings.  Yeah, the floor in front of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre is probably dusty also.

Great advice...especially this point; "check the poster on offerings you find particularly unsatisfying.  Odds are their future prose will be similarly irritating and you can save yourself some grief by just skipping past.."

It's nice to have a adult mature driven blog .  Just visit the Lakers blogs , it's just one huge battle of emotions and put downs , unending foul language .

Other active NBA fan forums I know of:
Clutchfans, Spurstalk, Lakersground, Raptors board on RealGM

Also, /r/nba on Reddit has become really nice these years. It's the best place for a quick look of the latest NBA stuff.

I agree on the alot of the trades.  For your amusement, here are the new standards for schizophrenia.

http://behavenet.com/node/21556

Most  of the trades fit two out of the five, lol.  Mainly 1 and 3.     I chalk it up to youthful exuberance most of the time.   But the useful player for Perk ones make me wonder.

I like most of the posters but some of the guys complain about the forum.  Just kidding.

Why would people be surprised about silly stuff on forums check out this qoute and article.  It's not just basketball.

Quote
"About 1 in 4 Americans can name more than one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment (freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly and petition for redress of grievances.) But more than half of Americans can name at least two members of the fictional cartoon family, according to a survey.

"The study by the new McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum found that 22 percent of Americans could name all five Simpson family members, compared with just 1 in 1,000 people who could name all five First Amendment freedoms."
