The Celtics have done a fine job so far this offseason. They are laying back and watching for the most part which isn't the 'fireworks' we expected but still I like it.

They drafted two guys I like, Smart and Young. They signed Bradley to a 4/32 deal which at first I didn't like but after seeing Parsons and Hayward get 15 a year, I LOVE that deal for AB.

DA turned the TPE into yet another pick and a solid big man in Zeller and a solid scorer in Thornton.

If the Celtics cant get Love, they should stand pat in FA and just tank it again.

All of my thoughts on the NBA FA and Celtics here: http://joepatsfan.blogspot.com/2014/07/nba-free-agency-thoughts.html

Solid analysis here. TP.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

We should have done that Rondo for 8th pick deal.  I don't see it getting any better than that.  I hope I'm wrong.

Gamble on future picks with teams. Ainge managed to get 3 unprotected picks from the Nets who will probably be a lottery team in at least one of 2016,17, or 18. One 8th pick in a draft where you know you are only going to get Vonleh or Stauskas there is not worth it.

As much fun as it would be to have Love here, it doesn't look like it is going to happen without a dramatic overpay on our part.  I like the idea of waiting until next year to make big moves, as our team will have a lot more financial flexibility.  Lil' Gasol or Love signed as an FA + our 2015 lottery pick followed by a Nets' lottery pick the next year + another Nets lottery pick the year after would be just fantastic

It's worth the overpay IMO.  I base it off two things.  Love is a legit proven talent, & Ainge has set us up with the ability to give away as many picks as it takes.

Who cares if it takes 1, 2, 3, or even 4 first round picks ?  The Celtics are one team that can afford that overpay and its based on your GM building the assets to make a move.

August 4th:

Boston Trades: Marcus Smart, James Young, Keith Bogans, Jeff Green, Jared Sullinger, 2015 L.A. 1st round pick, 2016 Brooklyn 1st round pick

Minnesota Trades: Kevin Love, Kevin Martin
