It stinks on the part of management to want players to build solidarity and camaraderie with teammates and then expect them to openly recruit their replacement, there is an inherent disconnect there. Management needs to do its job and let the players do theirs.
I have always said this idea of players colluding to take less money in order to play together violates the letter and the spirit of the salary cap. For the salary cap to have real bite the NBA must assign a cap number that is equal to the highest real offer a player gets whether or not he chooses to play elsewhere for less.
