Wizards don't have a 1st Rounder this year. It was given up in the Gortat trade. I think they would only be interested in Green if they can't retain Ariza.
I would think they could easily fit both Ariza and Green in the rotation.  I mean you are talking about a team that started Trevor Booker and Martell Webster a combined 58 games.  I would think Jeff Green makes more sense to start than either of those guys and could see giving him 35 minutes at the 3 and 4 (and maybe a bit at the 2 if they want to go big).

As for a trade, I just don't see any team giving up a whole lot of value for Jeff Green and they have no expiring contracts except for Andre Miller to trade, so I don't see any real way to get that done unless they are willing to give up on Otto Porter and then include Miller, which I just don't see as happening.

EDIT:  If the Wiz would trade Miller and Porter for Green, I think it might make some sense, especially if Boston can find a third team to take Miller and get something different back (maybe Miller & Bogans to NY, Green to Wash, and Porter and Bargnani to Boston - or something like that).

Ya i was with u all along until u ruined it all by suggesting Bargani... I dont want Barg anywhere near Boston... I like the idea of trading away Miller if we get him and all but def not for Bargs! No no no! No.

Read Lowe's article and the whole one sentence mention that Washington has long coveted Green. If they have, its gotta be a major secret because I have never heard a single rumor of Washington and Jeff Green before. I think this is just Lowe postulating and nothing more. It was pretty clear he was playing "what ifs" in his article at the time of the one sentence mention.

I would take his whole idea that Washington desires Green with a major grain of salt.

Looking at the numbers, it seems like if the Wizards lose Ariza in free agency, that they would be willing to take Green in a salary dump to squeeze out a bit more cap space for the Celtics to sign a free agent such as Carmelo Anthony.  I don't think Washington would have the cap space to completely absorb Green's salary, but something like Green for Miller and a second might be doable to clear almost $5m from payroll.

One thing to watch for is Ainge finding a way to get involved as a third team in a deal that sends Gortat or Ariza to another team in a sign-and-trade.  Does anyone like Gortat or Ariza enough that they would send Green plus another asset to Washington to faciliate a sign-and-trade acquisition of either player?

Or it may be that unlike the majority of CB posters, the Wizards realize they that have nothing to offer, and that Jeff Green is worth more than a bag of chips and the calcified remains of the player once known as Drew Gooden.

Of course Green is worth more than a bag of chips. I'd even trade you a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for him.

Gooden's been on my "he's still in the league?" list for a number of years.

Absolutely wouldnt mind that deal if we can get them to throw a top-10 protected 2015 1st rdr along with Otto Porter... He mustve shown something special in college to get selected 3rd overall cuz the Wiz management arent stupid and know who to draft (ariza, wall, beal, etc)

The Wizards have actually been a disaster when it comes to the draft over the past several years actually.  They made a great choice with Bradley Beal, Im not denying that.  Every GM in the league would have taken Wall #1, no choice involved there.  Aside from those two, they drafted Jan Vesley at #6 and hes gonna be out of the league when his rookie contracts up.  They traded away a lottery pick and what would have been Ricky Rubio to rent Randy Foye for a couple years.  Now Otto Porter could potentially bust at #3 for them last year.

....That team could be crazy loaded if Ernie Grunfeld doesnt make those boneheaded moves.

Sure, just give me Trevor Ariza and Marcin Gortat. I'll even throw in Brandon Bass and Keith Bogans in the package!

I would trade Jeff Green for lyme disease as long as I weren't adding more bad contract years.

I feel like you could make this a case for 95% of the teams in the league.

If (insert GM here) only drafted (this borderline all star) instead of (this knucklehead who didn't pan out) they would be an absolute super team.

Every GM in the league has made mistakes but recently he has been great for them and not many mocks had put Beal that high but he saw the potential and drafted him and he could arguably turn out to be the best pick from that draft (after anthony davis ofcourse)
