Watching the Warriors come up just short against the Clippers last night, I came to the conclusion that they are a team that is still a couple moves away from being ready to make a deep run in the playoffs.

But what can be done to shake up and actually improve that roster?

Here's my first idea (maybe not a very good or realistic one):

David Lee
Harrison Barnes
Klay Thompson
2015 1st

for

Kevin Love
Kevin Martin

That only works if the Timberwolves are interested in still being competitive after trading Love, rather than tanking (again).  If the T-Wolves were game, I think Love would be on board.  He's a California boy, and playing with a point guard who can actually shoot would be a revelation.

What's your idea for the Warriors?  Or do you think they have what it takes if they more or less stand pat, hoping for Bogut to stay healthy one of these years?
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Nice trade...T-Wolves I think would jump on that...but Warriors may not want to trade both Klay and Barnes
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Yeah.  And is Kevin Love THAT big an upgrade on David Lee?  I think so, but I could see an argument for the opposite conclusion.

Still, I think it'd be worth it.  Kevin Martin gives you virtually the same scoring as Klay without the defense.

The Warriors would have an even tougher time defending after this trade.  Putting even more onus on Bogut to stay healthy.  I think the corresponding move would have to involve shoring up the center position.  Maybe that just means Festus Ezeli coming back healthy, or maybe it means trading (somehow) for Asik or Mozgov or somebody like that.

I think the Warriors have enough talent, especially if Curry, Thompson, Barnes and Green continue to improve. They beat Denver last year and pushed the Clips to 7 without Bogut or Ezeli. I think they would have won with Bogut.

So I'd go with your last point. I don't think they need to make a big move. Their bench needs to be better constructed though.
