Can we finally put to rest "Rondo only put up good numbers because he was surrounded by HOF players..."?

Not just yet. It was only against the pistons. He does this a few more times vs better teams , then yes.

I like it how he is not walking up mid court with the ball much anymore. Even though he missed a few jump shots its also good to see him shoot without overthinking. Good job sacrificing the body and attempting to get a charge call on bynum

I still think yes - 18 assist is still a great stat for a lot of point guard. He made Humphries look like a star out there yesterday.

But I also agree that I like that he is shooting without thinking now. I want confidence in my pg.

Historical note: Rondo also passed Bill Russell for 5th place in Celtics all-time assists.

Pretty brilliant offensive game for a lot of our guys, but a lot of that was enabled by Detroit playing like crap.

That's one of the main things that I'm liking is his confidence and willingness to shoot. He needs that.

If he becomes a consistent shooter(on his way) he will have an easier time blowing by his man and going to work in his office, inside the ft line.

Heard announcers say he works on his jumpers before games with adams.  When he shoots now he is pointing at the basket after the follow through ray allen style. All good things for consistency purpose

Adams has been a terrific hire imo. KOs shooting has improved and I noticed he also points to the basket after the follow through also

Agrees. Adams has been a terrific hire.

Quote
“He was shooting better, from an opponent’s view point,” Adams said after practice Tuesday. “But like a lot of players, the technical part of his shooting, I thought, could be better.”

Then Adams joined the Celtics as an assistant, began working with Rondo this season, and now, Rondo has improved his shot, especially from 3-point range.

“I gotta give Ron Adams a lot of credit,” Rondo said recently. “He’s been with me since Day 1.’’

Adams said Rondo deserved the bulk of the credit, but their work together began with a simple notion.

“One of the things we talked about was knowing when you’re open and shooting the ball,” Adams said. “That’s a fundamental change for him in some ways.”

They also examined every aspect of Rondo’s shooting motion.

“You start with the feet,” Adams said. “You see how fluid the shot is through the feet and then you work your way up.”

Then, there are Rondo’s large hands.

“That’s a little bit of an issue with him,” Adams said. “It’s good to have big hands, but he’s working on certain things as far as catching and so on so that he can catch and release and spin the ball in the right way.”

When it came to tweaking his shot, Rondo was a “good worker,” Adams said.

“He locks in,” Adams added. “He’s mentally tough.”

I wonder why rivers and his staff couldnt figure this out.

Was rivers considered a good shooter when he played?

Not really. He was a career 44% shooter who shot 32% from deep.

His prime was a little before my time, but I'm like 90% positive that Doc made his bones as a defense first PG who took really good care of the ball.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.
