Gee, I am on a Boston Celtics blog. I am assuming that some of you are likely from the area and are real basketball fans?

Noah Vonleh has probably played over 1000 games in the general geographical area over the last 4 years. Total gym rat.

Strangely, it appears that I am the only one on this board who has actual gotten my lazy behind in a car to go watch him play?

One of the bonuses of actually doing this are:
-It is free
-There are other really good players where Noah is playing.
-You would actually know what the heck you are talking about with regard to Noah Vonleh's game and the draft.

Some of this player analysis is just pathetic. Sorry.
His games were free? Even my crappy Arlington High School games cost money at the door?

I don't claim to have any knowledge of his game other than watching the draft express video. I would appreciate it if you shared your analysis of him with me.

However, generally, calling people's opinions pathetic are not a good way to get your opinion listened to.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I wouldn't take either of these guys, but with a gun to my head I'd choose Vonleh based on size alone.  With some luck, he'll turn into Leon Powe.
With luck he'll shrink 4 inches, lose the ability to shoot, and become a leaper?
2 inches
Powe was never a leaper after the early injury.  Pure position rebounder.
I concede he's a much better shooter than Powe.
Powe wasn't a position rebounder, he was terrible at that. He was a hustle, explosion guy even after his injury.

And 6'8" was certainly his listed height.

Vonleh stats these days is nothing to get excited about. Gordon the same
But his team is one of the best in college due to his play

The main thing you can go by with vonleh is upside/potential. Imo i think he will drop out of the top 10 come draft day

Yeah, I agree, 18 points and 14 rebounds per 40 minutes is nothing to get excited about.

I dont think you read properly. These days he is avg like 6 rebounds, 14 pts a game. Look at his stats/game log before proving per 40 min inflated info.

Some of this player analysis is just pathetic. Sorry.
I don't watch non-pro basketball, and I'm certain there are many other people who will not go out of their way to see a random high school game (in the interest of full disclosure, I also find it ridiculous and a bit disturbing that Little League finals are on national TV).

This being said, I also find that what Vonleh did against high school players that likely go up to his shoulder is highly irrelevant. But do feel free to share some "non-pathetic" player analysis, and thanks for all the fish.
Let me attempt to help you out with a better understanding of elite High School and AAU basketball.

"Up to his shoulders?" Please......

In High School, Noah Vonleh matched up in conference against Nerlens Noel, Mitch McGary, Stephen Adams, Andre Drummond, Kaleb Tarzewski, Josh Sharma, Goodluck Okonoboh, TJ Warren, Chris McCollough and Jakar Sampson on a nightly basis. Nobody much under 6' 9" there? In the next couple of years, just these bigs from Vonleh's high school conference will be likely taking up over 100 million of NBA cap space.

How about Noah Vonleh head to head against Andrew Wiggins? Definitely worth a few dollars for me to see this high school match up right here in Massachusetts just last year.

The current leading scorer in the Big 12 and the ACC both played high school at Brewster in NH. Problem is neither player even made the starting line up at Brewster. So you basically go from coming off the bench in high school to leading either of the two best college conferences in the country in scoring?

Any sixth men from your high school ever lead the Big 12 or ACC in scoring?

"Highly irrelevant"........ come again?

So Roy Williams, Coack K, Boeheim, Bill Self, Danny Ainge, Pitino, Calapari, Jim Calhoun, Billy Donovan, Fred Hoiberg, Rick Barnes and numerous NBA scouts were at Vonlen's Mass Rivals and New Hampton games because they were "highly irrelevant"?

When Kyrie Iring plays as a guest in your high school alumni game, I think that is a sign that this is, in fact, highly relevant basketball.

If you choose not to attend the world class 19u basketball in the New England area that is your business. So how are you possibly able to evaluate these future NBA players without actually seeing them play?

I just assumed that is why coaches making millions of dollars annually are in the middle of New Hampshire in the winter watching these games? Guess they should just do all their recruiting and drafting from "Draft Express"?

All the NESPAC games are free. Tuition at Vonleh's High School is $53,000 a year. Probably do not need to be charging guys $2 to attend the basketball games when it costs as much as Boston College to go to school there?

AAU games sometimes charge a few bucks. Definitely worth it and the travel, as my son plays. But, if you saw a few of the AAU rosters of say the Oakland Soldiers, Houston Defenders, Florida Elite or BABC at Nationals, you are basically looking at the NBA mock draft boards. A few dollars to watch Michael Carter Williams throw lobs to Nerlens Noel or Joel Embiid, Chris Walker and Kasey Hill playing on the same AAU team is worth it to me.
