Want good things for the Knicks? Totally out of the question! I expect the Nets will shape up before the all star break and make it into a decent playoff seed. After that all bets are off. Who knows, with the division the way i is and Atlanta's potential ceiling we could be looking at an Atl v. BKN first round match up.

Hawks could be the 4 seed which is sad because then we end up with like the 22nd pick in the draft as apposed to the 13th which we could get from the Nets.

I'm pretty sure that the winner of the Atlantic will be 4th seed by default.  Atlanta might be 5th or 6th.

Atlanta could win like 42 games and get that middle seed in the East, though, which might mean a pick in the late teens, since Atlanta might have a worse record than any of the Western playoff teams.

Draft picks go on record, not on seeding though.

Ok, to put my earlier question differently, if Team A has rights to swap picks with Team B, can or can't they trade those rights to team C?

While it's still early to pronounce the Nets dead, things don't look good...they're losing to some not so great teams, and were lucky to beat the Suns in OT the other night.  Really have to wonder if KG is not at his end....he got off to a great start in last nights game vs. Portland, hitting his first 5, but still wound up 8-19, and apparently his D not up to snuff.  Was hoping they'd challenge Miami this year ...but if not, happy if their woes net us a better pick (pun intended).

Yes.  If Atlanta traded their 2014 pick to another team (e.g. Dallas) then Dallas would retain the right to swap the Atlanta pick with Brooklyn's 2014 pick.

Atlanta won tonight again.

Nets are getting killed by the wolves.

Pierce might have the worse FG percentage in the league right now. He is shooting 2-11 tonight. Last game was like 3-11?

The step he has lost from last year to this year looks significant

Not close to the worst.  Going into the game, he had a 40.0% FG%.  There were 39 players with at least 75 attempts who were shooting worse through last night.  JR Smith was the worst at 31.0%.  Other notable names are Kevin Garnett, John Wall, Derrick Rose, Tim Duncan, Gordon Hayward, and Rudy Gay.

It's a real shame that Atlanta is pretty solid, because we could be in a great position with Brooklyn's struggles if Atlanta didn't have the right to swap picks with them.

Brooklyn probably wouldn't be the type of team to put together an expensive roster that is struggling if they weren't the type of team who would have traded for Joe Johnson.

right now, I think the trade is looking good for Ainge...Pierce/KG clearly look like they have lost a step...KG especially. I think this is his last year.

so you are looking at a team that after this season could be a lottery team in 2-3years when the C's are getting all of their picks!

and maybe Pierce comes back to help mentor our top5 prospect in next years draft...
