It would still be tied to how Atlanta does and whether Brooklyn ends up worse than them.

How are they going to trade their pick when it's already traded to the Nets?

I like Atlanta's roster, they will definitely make the playoffs this year. Horford and Millsap is quite the front line.  Teague keeps developing and if Williams can get healthy, they will be in the 6-8 range in the playoffs...

They'd be trading the rights to the best pick between theirs and Brooklyn's.

I don't think you can ever say "definitely" unless you mean "even if they have the worst luck with injuries".

It's pretty early to be counting what pick we have, lottery , etc.

I just know this.  Regardless of where it lands, Ainge can find a player with that Brooklyn/Atlanta pick.  In the first round, there is always value with any pick you receive.  It's just a matter of doing your homework, scouting, etc.

It's a long season and I don't see them as quite deep, and they seem especially thin at the wings.

Its way to early to make those observations.  In the LEastern conference both of these team will make the playoffs.  Our best case scenario is they sneak in at the 7th and 8th seeds and hovering around .500 records.

The "Leastern Conference" was trendy (and pretty appropriate) back in 2002, but not so much anymore when the East has won 2 straight championships and at least another 1-3 teams who could contend for one.

Hawks could be the 4 seed which is sad because then we end up with like the 22nd pick in the draft as apposed to the 13th which we could get from the Nets.

It is coming I suspect.  Atlanta has had an easy schedule so far.

still hoping they both miss the playoffs -- giving us a shot at 2 lottery picks.  it's a longshot but not completely crazy

I'm pretty sure that the winner of the Atlantic will be 4th seed by default.  Atlanta might be 5th or 6th.

Atlanta could win like 42 games and get that middle seed in the East, though, which might mean a pick in the late teens, since Atlanta might have a worse record than any of the Western playoff teams.

Brooklyn is 1 game out of first place, and the #4 seed.

We really ought to be rooting for the knicks to sort out their issues and take a hold of this division. Because neither the 76ers or the raptors are going to be able to hold off a strong second half from the nets.
