I don't think that Bass's contract status is much of a negative at all.  For some teams, it may even be a positive.  Below are the teams that are all very near or above the likely salary cap of $61-$62 million for next season.  Those teams aren't going free agent shopping except through the MLE, etc, so adding Bass for this year and next wouldn't decrease their flexibility much if at all.  I'm not saying all of these teams are perfect fits -- just that Bass's salary next year shouldn't be seen as much of an obstacle.

Brooklyn
Chicago
Denver
Golden State
Houston
Indiana
Clippers
Memphis (assuming that Z-bo doesn't decline his player option)
Miami (assuming that the Big 3 hang around)
Minnesota
New Orleans
Knicks (assuming Stoudamire and Bargnani don't opt out, whic is a pretty safe assumption)
Oklahoma City
Portland
Sacramento
San Antonio (they have a choice between ~$8 million in cap space, or Bass + MLE + BAE)
Toronto (they have a lot of partially guaranteed deals that could technically create a bit more room than some teams, but it's unlikely they waive everyone, and even doing so creates no more tha $8-9 million in cap space).

That's 15-17 teams who aren't losing much/any roster flexibility if they took on Bass's contract for next year.  Accordingly, Bass's contract alone will not be the impediment against him being traded.  If he isn't traded, it will be some combination of his play, the C's desire to trade him, and what they want in return.

If Brandon Bass gets traded, it will because Danny finds a deal where he gets back a young, developing player who he thinks can be an integral part of the long-term future in return.

I don't see Brandon being traded away just to dump his salary.  His deal is actually very reasonable for his value and production, far from being an "albatross" of any sort.

I agree with this.  Brandon's play has transferred well to the Stevens era.  He is a hardworking player that has improved his D, and is a good role model for our kids.

Unless there is a deal out that that gives us a piece we can use in a bigger deal down the road, I don't know why we would need to trade Bass right now.  But I also think that there will be a lot of suitors for BB later in the year if he keeps up the good play.  I don't really want to see him go.

Bass & Lee to Houston for Asik or anybody else seems unlikely.  Dwight Howard actively lobbied to have management trade Bass away when they played together in Orlando - he preferred playing with BB Davis.  And Houston already had Lee on the roster, and was willing to let him walk.  Why would they want him back at the cost of a starting center (and yes, he is still starting, even with Howard on the roster)?

I'd like to keep Bass and see what a team built around him, Rondo, and Green, together with young pieces from the draft, can do.

I like the idea of keeping Bass more than Green, simply because there are so many talented SFs out there.  With Green making $10-12 m a year, he is a huge cap hit relative to his ranking at his position.  I would rather have any of the following over Green at their current salary:

LeBron
Kevin Durant
Paul George
Melo
Batum
Luol Deng
Josh Smith
Igouldala
Kawhi Leondard
Gordon Hayward
Chandler Parsons
Danny Granger
Thaddeous Young

I mean that's a third of the league!  I am not even counting Pierce or Rudy Gay as ahead of him, for the same reason.  Plus, with the new draft we're getting Wiggins, Parker, Randle and at least one more who are guaranteed to be better than Green.  We're just not getting an advantage on other teams if we have Green.

Bass on the other hand is a much more versatile contributor.  I think we should focus on trading Green for future assets, as Bass will come in handy right away if we can get our cards in order for next year.

I would not trade Gerald Wallace straight up for Bargnani.  That is how worthless I think Bargnani is.

Really?  I'd do that deal without thinking twice. That would be great for us.

Exactly. Bass is hurting our tanking efforts.

for the question of course he is, many teams would want him as a very good sub or good enough sub
as of right now bass has been the most productive player during regular season (yes its 4 games)
he has earned the starting spot on this team and has upped his defensive effort and lordy i even saw a few nice passes from "no pass bass"  ::)
