Very interesting, did not have enough time to read the whole thing, but I will say that I will be extremely disappointed if we are slow half court team.

Agreed.  While I think it's essential to be able to run some effective half court offensive when we need to, I want to see this team really look for opportunities to push the pace.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I won't.  Certainly we should take the fast-break opportunities that are given to us, but many times a fast-break on one end can lead to a similar break on the other end, since your defense is out of position after the made bucket, and even more so if you fail to convert.  And there's nothing wrong with being patient in the half-court set that you're going to be in even if you run a little more than the average team.

Also, almost every team is going to find most of their offense in the half-court, so it's important to be able to execute in that setting to the best of your team's ability.  Houston was the fastest team in the league last year, and had a whopping 4.6 more possessions per game than the Celtics, or one more per quarter.  Assuming that Houston opponents had an equal amount of possessions (they essentially do) the average possession for each team ina  game Houston played was 14.6 seconds.  Contrast that to the average length of a possession in a Celtics game of 15.3 seconds.  That's what, one more Rondo dribble per possession?

The Celtics played a little more slowly, but not much more slowly, than the Rockets (who tried to live up to their name).  And the Celtics were tied for 16th in that stat this year, so pretty much the dead middle of the league.

An actual decent Bleacher Report article.

BR is getting better. I have read a handful of articles over the last few months that are light years above their previous standard.

Of course that is not a high bar given their previous formula for every article: "an arbitrary ranking of 50 nba players on some characteristic no one really cares about, arranged in a slideshow to maximize clicks."

I love that he is going to run a Jerry Sloan style half court offense. The Jazz were solid in the half court and John Stockton was amazing on the break!!

I just hope our players have a high enough Bball IQ to run this offense.  Lots of motion around the ball and away from it as well, wich is where I always thought the celts stood around to much.  Creative movment away from the ball is crucial in an effective half court offense as it makes people turn their heads and begin to think!  A lot of players struggle with the quick thinking in todays NBA.
