Out of the NBA for the past three seasons, former lottery pick Patrick O’Bryant is hopeful he will receive an invitation to work out or go to training camp for an organization in the weeks after summer league.

O’Bryant has yet to hear interest from teams, but he is confident there will be one that needs a big man as the season nears. He also has gotten interest from clubs hoping to keep him overseas.

“Absolutely, getting back in the NBA has always been the goal,” O’Bryant told RealGM. “The goal is to come back in the league, but I’m not going to miss a season just because I didn’t get to play in the NBA.

“Playing overseas has added different aspects to my game, a different understanding to the game. Overseas is a lot different than the NBA: the speed, the mindset, the strategy behind it. Things like that have expanded my mind.”

At seven feet, O’Bryant averaged 2.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in four seasons with the Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors. O’Bryant, 27, went ninth overall in the 2006 NBA draft.
