With the reported hire of Ron Adams, who's regarded as one of the best in the business, and the hire of Brad Stevens what type of rebuilding is trying to take place?

You never know what Ainge has up his sleeves and it's still very early in the summer, but he's putting together a quality coaching staff. Now we just have to see the players we have for 2013-14 season.

Right now I think his plan is to acquire as many assets as possible while improving the assets they already have. Great coaching can help young players immensly, improving their value so that we can trade them for stars in the future.

I think this year they try to push improvement in Rondo, Green, Bradley, Lee, Sullinger and Olynyk, while getting guys like Bass, Humphries, and Crash to get better to up their trade value.

I don't think hiring a great staff necessarily means they are trying to win now just get the best out of what they have.

I think his focus right now is on collecting assets, gaining flexibility, and building value.  That is probably all he is sure of at this point.

The speed of rebuilding is going to depend on when the right pieces become available to use the assets he is collecting.  It could happen later this summer, it could happen at the trade deadline, it could happen next summer, or it could be later than that.  And I don't think even Danny could tell you when it will happen.  He is just determined to be ready.

Right, I just think he's trying to set the organization up for the best possible moves (whatever that may be).

Brad Stevens is a defense-first coach.  Ron Adams is a defensive specialist as a coach.

I expect the Celtics to remain defense-oriented during rebuilding, with playing time for young players dependent on their commitment to defense.

I'd like to think that players who can score but who won't give effort on the defensive end of the floor are going to find themselves sitting more than they like.

I love what Ainge and the ownership are doing. They are building a solid foundation for long term success. No bandaids or gimmicks. With a solid foundation they can start fitting pieces into place. And remember this.  We are way ahead of the Lakers on this one.

I think Ainge has at least 4-5 plans in his head, and he'll adapt to changing circumstances.

A good GM never plans on one particular thing.

Case in point -- he clearly was looking to reload this time last year and probably hoped he could get another year or two of 50-60 wins and competing for the Eastern Conference out of this group.  But then the injuries happened and the players he got just didn't mesh well together.  So he made some bold moves to blow it up and head in a completely different direction.

The worst thing a GM can do, in my opinion, is hyperfocus on one route and double down on that plan even when it's not working.
