Olynyks bread and butter is driving to the basket and a jump shot. He has some decent post moves but against college length struggled, because he has only avg wingspan and poor lift. Defense suffers in general because of these same shortcomings plus he is not that strong and doesn't have exceptional footspeed
Olynyk in the nba will be a 6th man at best and won't be out there when defensive stops are required
With the 16th pick we need the best we can get, especially ever with pp and kg nearing their exit. A complete player, preferably at the post position. To me guys that fit this bill are
- Dieng (worries about offensive upside, though i would say eventually he should be good for 10 points a game in the nba)
- Plumlee (not dominating in either end, but would fit well in terms of how the celts are made up. Like a nice upgrade to Brandon Bass)
- Withey (shot blocking would deter opposing teams to drive in at will. Just a smarter, better Melo but with limited upside)
- Mitch Mcgary (personally don't think he will be a good fit. Too much like Sully. Foul prone)
- The x factor for me is, Andre Roberson. Sf yes, but his ability to defend multiple position, rebound and play above the rim will give the celts another dimension.
