Also was Perk really that good? He played great with KG, but he can't create his own offense, he can barely finish when set up well (takes way too long to gather). I know everyone loves Perk (including me) but I think he is a perfect fit as a last piece on a good veteran team, Jordan has the potential to be a a piece that could make the Celtics a good team eventually.
Yes he was.
He was a 600 TS% guy before he hurt his knee, far more mobile and athletic finisher that what you see now. He was still awkward but was very effective all the same.
Perkins also effectively anchored our defense as the only shot blocker after KG's injury while extending his minutes and reducing his foul rate. He was also a superior rebounder to what he is now becuase of his better athleticism got more out of zone rebounds.
Now he's much more of a plodder on defense and can't finish near the rim for all his increased understanding of where to be and what to do.
Jordan's potential is several orders higher than Perkins because of his raw athleticism, but I'd be very happy if he just reached Perkins level of play from the 2009-2010 season before his knee tendonitis started to bother him.
