The rumor I am basing this off of comes at the end from rotoworld.com via ESPN basically saying Blake would have to go for the Clips to sign DH12.
Celtics trade: Pierce, future picks, our unguaranteed contracts
Clips trade: Blake, Bledsoe
Clips then: Don't pick up Pierce (save 10.3 mil); Willie Green's option (saves 1.4 m); Grant Hill retires (2 mil).
Find a team to take Butler for as many unguaranteed contracts as possible and include a pick. I haven't looked around at teams for this but ballpark maybe you save 2 million here and take on a player being paid 5.
Remember in this scenario the Clips are trying to dump as much salary as possible. Seems that Pierce's contract is the only way to do so.
Overall this is absurd and would probably never happen but it makes a little sense on some levels, if enough space can be cleared to sign DH12 and build the team from there.
Thoughts?
A source tells ESPN that impending free agent Chris Paul is "unlikely" to leave the Clippers.
Paul has reportedly gotten over his anger with owner Donald Sterling for throwing him under the bus during the Vinny Del Negro firing. He reportedly likes living in Los Angeles, as well. The best way for Paul to end up as a teammate with Dwight Howard would be for the Clippers to somehow clear enough cap space to sign both. They'd have to get rid of Blake Griffin and others to do that. It's an extreme longshot.
