The rumor I am basing this off of comes at the end from rotoworld.com via ESPN basically saying Blake would have to go for the Clips to sign DH12.

Celtics trade: Pierce, future picks, our unguaranteed contracts

Clips trade: Blake, Bledsoe

Clips then: Don't pick up Pierce (save 10.3 mil); Willie Green's option (saves 1.4 m); Grant Hill retires (2 mil).

Find a team to take Butler for as many unguaranteed contracts as possible and include a pick.  I haven't looked around at teams for this but ballpark maybe you save 2 million here and take on a player being paid 5.

Remember in this scenario the Clips are trying to dump as much salary as possible.  Seems that Pierce's contract is the only way to do so.

Overall this is absurd and would probably never happen but it makes a little sense on some levels, if enough space can be cleared to sign DH12 and build the team from there.

Thoughts?

A source tells ESPN that impending free agent Chris Paul is "unlikely" to leave the Clippers.
Paul has reportedly gotten over his anger with owner Donald Sterling for throwing him under the bus during the Vinny Del Negro firing. He reportedly likes living in Los Angeles, as well. The best way for Paul to end up as a teammate with Dwight Howard would be for the Clippers to somehow clear enough cap space to sign both. They'd have to get rid of Blake Griffin and others to do that. It's an extreme longshot.

Also in the Pierce-Blake swap I didn't clearly mention the savings in swapping out Bledsoe for non guaranteed contracts.  Picks would be the sweetener on our end in addition to the salary dump for them

I think if the Clips want to get Howard, the way to do it is with a sign and trade from the Lakers.  If they move salary to the Celtics and the Celtics to the Lakers in the form of Pierce then they get the full use of Pierce's contract.

The Lakers might want Pierce to keep them afloat until Kobe gets back and see how they play together after that.  Maybe they then move Pierce as an expiring contract to a team that needs to cut salary for the next season.

The most obvious way for this to go down would be Howard to ATL, Pierce to LAL, and Smith to the Celtics.  That kind of gets everyone what they want, if we really want Smith that is.  And if we want to pay him max money, which I don't.

Or something like...

Pierce+Terry to LAL
DHoward to LAC
Griffin+Bledsoe to Bos

...then if KG/Doc still want out, do separate deals to move KG and get compensation for Doc.

Love the way the Lakers get robbed in these scenarios.  Essentially Howard fro Pierce.  Sounds good to me even if the C's get nothing in return.
