Trade Eric Bledsoe and the #16 pick to Utah for Big Al Jefferson and the #14 pick.
???

yea need to match salaries in a trade

Sorry I totally forgot to include Butler. C's would send one of Terry, Bass or Lee to LAC for Butler in the KG trade. Then C's send Butler, Bledsoe and #16 for Big Al (assuming he isn't coming in at 15m a year) and #14. Butler is expiring and helps at their other position of need SF.

I agree with this pipe dream... it would definitely be nice if we could just flip our trash for elite stars.
Hey I like to dream big. And every single one of those trades have been mentioned in some form or another in the last year. Bledsoe and filler for Millsap or Big Al was a trade deadline rumor. Gordon for Pierce and Bradley is the new rumor. And then there is the old KG and PP for Jordan and Bledsoe rumor. The only one that wasn't is the Atlanta trade and i acknowledged I wasn't sure if they'd take it.

And also I don't consider Pierce, KG and Bradley our "trash".

first i dont think these trades are plausible and for a defensive minded team i dont think this team will excel. not enough floor spacing for the big men to work in the post. Al jefferson is a great scorer but teams would throw the double at him with our lack of perimeter shooting

Again plausible or not they've all been mentioned as trade possibilities at some point. And this would be a total overhaul of our roster and we wouldn't be the same defensive minded team. We would be a high scoring offense with Gordon and Green providing the spacing and hopefully Josh Smith's great D making up for Al's deficiencies.

Like I said at the end I don't think Big Al is the perfect fit, but I think Utah would love Bledsoe. I mentioned some other options with Gortat being the most realistic and then Cousins or Noel being pipe dreams, but if the Big Al deal is the only part you have a problem with then feel free to make an alternative suggestion.
Conner... rumors aren't true.  We could easily make a rumor that Dwight Howard was demanding a trade to Boston or that the Lakers were considering trading Dwight for our injured Rondo... but that doesn't mean your trade ideas built around the concept of "Rondo for Dwight" now have realism.

The Bledsoe/Jordan for KG thing was never happening.  It was nonsense.

The Pierce for Gordon thing is never happening.  It's nonsense.

Rumors are fun. Combining rumors are fun.  But at the end of the day, it's all a bunch of pipe dreams that will never happen.  We aren't flipping our trash for gold.

Agreed.

But for the life of me, I cannot find an elite star in this thread.

All I see is a vastly overrated ex-Celtic who can't guard me, a guard with bad wheels and a frontcourt guy with no perimeter game.

There isn't a trade in this discussion that, if made, I wouldn't demand Ainge's immediate resignation.
KG and Pierce have a foot in retirement.  It's more likely KG bails and we waive Pierce for nothing than we end up with a couple young fringe allstars for them.  Not happening.

Trade Pierce and Bradley to New Orleans for Eric Gordon

Trade KG to Clippers for Deandre Jordan, Eric Bledsoe

Trade Deandre Jordan, Fab Melo, Jordan Crawford and all our unguaranteed contracts to the Hawks for Josh Smith

Trade Eric Bledsoe and the #16 pick to Utah for Big Al Jefferson and the #14 pick.

Big Al
Smith/Sully
Green/Smith
Gordon/Lee/Terry
Rondo/T-Will

#14 (Olnyk or Plumlee if he falls?)

The Pierce and Bradley to New Orleans is the new rumor with it being suggested that New Orleans waives Pierce who can then sign with a contender. Assuming you can arrange it so that Pierce goes to NO who then release him and then he signs with LAC and KG is traded there, its basically trading Pierce and KG for Jordan and Bledsoe so I think LAC says yes. NO gets rid of Gordon's contract and gets a nice young player in Bradley so they say yes.

Atlanta is the one I'm not sure of. Brining in Jordan allows them to move Horford to PF where he is better suited and then they get a few unguaranteed contracts and some projects in Melo and Crawford. Is it enough to get Smith? Would they even want to pay Jordan 10m a year? I don't know, but its certainly a possibility if they miss out on the other big names in free agency and Smith was going to walk for nothing.

Lastly Utah seriously needs a PG and Big Al is on his way out anyway to make room for Kanter and Favors so the trade works plus they would be wiling to move back two spots to 16.

Atlanta might want a first to get the deal done and I'm not sure if I'd be willing to include that unless Smith is coming in at a team friendly cap number.

I'm also not exactly crazy on Big Al's defenseless game  and I think Bledsoe could potentially bring in a guy like Cousins (in a larger package) or Gortat who might fit better with that lineup so you could change that. Or if for some reason McLemore goes #1 I think Bledsoe and the #16 could be enough to get Orlando to move the #2 since Nelson is a train wreck and the have Vucevic so we could get Noel.

Smith made more sense if the Celtics could have somehow got him this season before the trading deadline but that is the part of the trade that would just never happen.  And the Celtics could never get the number 2 pick even in a weak draft for so little.  The number 2 pick gives Orlando a cheap contract for 4 years and their fans hope which sell tickets.  Bledsoe and the 16th pick doesn't come close to doing that.  Atlanta will clearly let Smith walk before taking on a contract that they aren't enthusiastic about.  Smith trying to score inside would fit with KG but in the absence of KG and even Pierce, I think Smith loses some appeal to the Celtics for the price it will take to get him since Smith would probably continue to shoot too much from the perimeter.

Your other trades are a bit more realistic but I actually don't think do enough for the Celtics for the reasons you allude to.  I'm very skeptical about Al Jefferson since I don't think his defense has ever been good and its probably more just a lack of ability on that side of the court then a lack of effort.   Maybe he would be a more efficient scorer if he was on a better team or only asked to score 15-16 ppg but his overall shooting isn't that much above league average for his career.   This would be fine if we was above average on D but he has the well deserved reputation of being well below average on d.
